Had an amazing meal at KJUN. The food was so well prepared and seasoned, and it was the perfect combination of Korean and Cajun... flavors. I would highly recommend the Kimchi Jambalaya and the egg appetizer! The service was also amazing. The chef herselfdelivered the dishes, and we had the lovely opportunity of talking to her. The space is a little small, but its the perfectplace for a cozy, delicious meal for two! Will be coming again and telling all my friends about this place! Read more
You can make reservations over insta DM! We came on a Friday evening at 6:30 and it was fairly empty. It started to become... crowded closer to 7:30. The restaurant is incredibly small. Perhaps 15 seats in total on tall stools and tables. The kitchen isopen so you can see the chef at work, which is pretty fun. Chef Jae also comes out to serve some dishes to tell you thebackstory as well, so it?s a really nice experience especially if you?re a Top Chef fan. We ordered way too much for 2 peoplejust so we could try a little bit of everything. Though I wished I had ordered the jambalaya or gumbo for a more obvious dish toshowcase the Cajun-Korean fusion. Cornbread - it?s a good cornbread. Honestly, I wish there was a fusion element to it. E.g usesoybean paste, gochujang, or kimchi in the bread, or replace the jalapeños with a pickled Korean food ??????????? Friedchicken - 3 huge pieces. American style fried chicken with a side of Korean sauces and pickles. I was hoping it would be Koreanstyle fried chicken coated in Cajun spices, so I was disappointed. Just not a fan of American breaded fried chicken. Also I wishthere were wet towelettes for the fried chicken ???? I had brought some, otherwise, it would have been a messy dinner. FlakedCod - super homey and flaky fish dish. This isn?t fusion, but it?s certainly reminds you of moms cooking. Seafood Jjajjangmyun- earthy tones with the black bean sauce. But nothing too special. The seafood on top is well cooked. Green tomato kimchi -pricey, but delicious. Most of the food we ordered was lacking an acid component (for me) so it was really nice to have arefreshing component on the side to return to. Gogo juice/misugaru - yum! Really different drinks from each other. If you wantrefreshing, get the gogo juice. If you want milky and nutty, get the misugaru! I would want to return to try their lunch menusince it has more of the loudly fusion items. Read more
Deviled eggs were great, the general flavor profile here at KJUN is very interesting. We generally enjoyed it but note that the... restaurant is very small and if you show up too late (like us), they might run out of their fried chicken! Our favorites werethe deviled eggs and the jjm. Gumbo + jambalaya were also good but a lil too salty. Read more
This is creative elevated fusion food done right. The flavors just work, and they respect both Korean and Cajun cuisines. We had... the Mama Kim Cod, Jjajangmyun, soy marinated eggs, and tomato kimchi. Everything tasted amazing - tomato kimchi was fizzy, fresh, just the right level of tartness. Jjajangmyun had juicy fried oysters and the deep umami fermented flavor of black beansauce with the chewy texture of japchae (a brilliant switch of noodles if you ask me). And the eggs had the best crispy chickenskin on top. The Mama Kim cod was the best of all - the broth was light and airy, the fish was cooked just right, flaky butstill had the right level of firmness, and the mushroom was soft, juicy. I wanted to order the kimchi jambalaya and the galbiand grits as well, but alas - will have to come back. Read more
