Reviews for Kissaki Sushi in New York, NY

We kept seeing ads for Kissaki, so we had to give it a try. We went to their Bowery location and had the full 15 course counter... omakase. It was somewhat underwhelming for its price. For an 8pm seating, we were served our first nigiri course a full hourlater (and we had come hungry!). There was also very little interaction throughout the meal with the chef, which is generally ahighlight of omakase counters. My favourite piece was the scallop, and a few of the other pieces were pretty good too. Theappetizers weren't anything to write home about, and neither was the dessert. At $150pp before tips/tax, I can't in good faithrecommend this. If it was at the $100pp price point then it would have been better - maybe spend a little less on the ads???? Came here for a birthday dinner celebration and had high hopes for the omakase counter experience. We had the 16 course counter... omakase set. The quality of food and service did not reflect the price point. Had minimal to no interaction with the chef, withthe exception of serving our food. This would be a good place for a casual lunch but overall lacking in the omakase counterexperience. Read more

Restaurant week $60 omakase is super worth! Quality of fish is fantastic, interior is clean & gorgeous. Bar seating is perfect... for dates. They were definitely understaffed but very nice & professional. Appetizer (soup and sashimi), 6 nigiris, fatty tunahand roll, and dessert (sesame ice cream sandwich) were all amazing! Read more

I'm not exaggerating when I say this place offers some of the best sushi I've ever had - and I have had a lot of sushi. Amazing... and creative combination of fish and condiments/toppings and the fish is super fresh. Loved it. Read more

Was very good for a restaurant week lunch. Sushi was served in proper temperatures and made fresh. Some of the pieces really... surprised me with interesting flavors and textures. The uni tasted okay but seemed a little mushy visually.. could have beenbetter but not at that price.. Read more

Great omakase experience in NYC. The best omakase experience I've ever had. We had the 16 course dinner. 2 appetizers and 12... pieces. The squid sushi was extremely tender and we were served 2 different types of uni. California and Hokkaido, both werevery good. Each piece was explained well by the chef and servers. Loved the tuna and mushroom and fatty tuna with uni. Read more

This is my favorite dining experience in NYC. The Omakase style course seating is the best way to eat sushi and every course is... phenomenal. It isn't an inexpensive meal in any way, shape, or form but it is truly an example of experiential dining. I'dyou're looking for a fancy date night or an amazing night out with the girls this is the place to go. Read more

The best omakase experience I've ever had. The food was fantastic but what really blew me away was Mark our chef. He paced the... pieces really well, was very clear about the names of each piece. The staff was extremely attentive. The dessert is a surprisebecause u don't expect such good pastries from a sushi restaurant. Read more
