Reviews for Joomak Banjum in New York, NY
Ate here for dinner recently with a great experience. My wife and I opted for the abridged, 4 course menu and selected the... following options: 1st course- Madai and Bahn Mi 2nd course- Sourdough Jajangmyeon and Brioche Mandoo 3rd course- Tilefish andDuck Leg Galbi Dessert- Amazake Boston Cream Pie and Curry Leaf Curd Service was excellent and the space was nicely arranged.Definitely on the pricey side, but the food was excellent and presented in a beautiful manner. Only wine (and one beer) wasavailable (no cocktails), with several options by the glass- all of which were fairly pricey. The wine list offered decentvariety and depth at different price points, but was much more concise than what you might expect at a Michelin-startedrestaurant. Read more
Beautiful and delicious food, and a great value tasting menu. The first thing that got my attention was the presentation of the... food. It's simply amazing to look at. From the first bite to the last one I was happy to discover that it also tastes great, with high quality interests and excellent preparation. The Korean seasonings are well balanced, never letting one ingredient orsauce dominate. The service was very attentive and explained the food like in a future dining setting, while keeping thingsfairly relaxed and informal. The amount of food and variety made the 4 course menu a great deal, and I'm looking forward totrying more of the food. Read more

It’s hard to put last night’s experience at Joomak into words. So awed by the technique and dedication displayed by the... Chef Jiho (Mr hustle) and Kelly. The plating, the garnishes, and flavours, everything was so on point. It is rare to havepastry technique matched with savory flavoring, and desserts with a uniquely savory touch. The caviar course was genius! I amglad New York is home to a restaurant like this, they truly push the dialogue forward on what chefs and artists can do when theyhave heart and courage. well done team, you guys deserve every praise. Joomak Banjum’s Ugly Duckling tasting menu was out of this world! There were so many dishes I wanted to ask for a second... serving. The Caviar with black sesame custard, Beef Tartare Banh mi, Brioche Mandoo, Jajamgmyeon, and toasted marshmallow weremy favorite and I will be talking about these dishes for weeks. Would 100% be back for more, and I cannot wait for the nexttime! Read more
I had a mixed experience here doing the tasting menu for my birthday. I would not recommend coming hungry; while I was full by... the end, the pacing and portions made it so that I was absolutely starving for the first hour because each dish was so tiny andslow to come out. There were some hits, and some dishes that weren’t great. They brought two desserts for my birthday whichwas generous. The price tag ended up being pretty hefty. I think I would have rather tried another tasting menu for this price. Read more
A very well curated tasting menu that gives a hint of the Korean-Chinese spirit with French cuisine techniques. Love that the... chef would come to our table and chat about how he first created the dish. We had a wonderful time at Joomak Banjum Read more
We enjoyed the Ugly Duckling tasting experience. The bar list is limited by wines by the glass, starting at $24. The dishes were... unique, surprising and well thought out. The choices of flavors and textures were brave and for that even moreexciting! Personal favorites are: —the black caviar with blackberry and sesame mousse that seem to be inspired, or reminiscentof the good-ol’ peanut butter and jelly sandwich but in the best of ways. —black cod bouillabaisse with kimchi, seaweedinfused tofu and gochujang for subtle heat —20-days aged duck breast with sweet potato cheesecake (dollops of puréetastefully arranged to create a well in which duck juice gets poured table-side). The service was very friendly, personable, knowledgeable and professional. We celebrated our anniversary here, and left very happy. Read more
