Reviews for Happy Hot Hunan in New York, NY
This dish seems simple: steamed fish with silky tofu. Some scallions on top. Wouldn't blow anyone's mind. But when you add two... glorious, fermented ingredients into the mix, they change the whole game: black soybean and ?? (duo jiao) - Hunan salted choppedchilies. So savory. So spicy. So... So simply delicious. It makes me wish I spent more of my childhood seeking out Hunancuisine. I'm so grateful that that Happy Hot Hunan restaurant is just 10 blocks from my apartment. I love how there are so manyregional Chinese cuisines in NYC. I grew up eating mostly Cantonese food (think dim sum, Chinese BBQ, and most Chinese Americandishes). I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and try something new next time you're craving Chinese food. Or not, because Happy Hot Hunan also serves some of the tastiest chow mein I've had in my whole life. Read more

Their egg drop soup was super good especially during the cold season.
Closes at midnight???????? Friendly staff. Food is DELICIOUS. Would come back again. These two dishes are a must order!
I imagine for a lot of New Yorkers, ?Hunan Style? Chinese food doesn?t mean anything. I grew up on San Francisco Chinese food,... which is famous for Hunan style. Eating here makes me nostalgic. It is authentic. Highly recommend the smoked pork with bambooshoots. Absolutely delicious! Read more
disgusting. thin black hair in soup (not mine) so they?re not using head coverings or hair nets, and the food is par cooked... ahead of time. The general tso?s entree was rock hard and dry as sand. I would have waited for fresh food. I was sodisappointed. The soup tastes and smells like dirty sink water I?m so upset. You wouldn?t feed what you gave me to a goat. Whathappened? I don?t care how busy it is take something off the menu don?t serve people garbage I?m so disappointed with you guysI?m not even exaggerating or being dramatic this is embarrassing. Read more
