We love to come here for oysters and a drink whenever we can! My Grammy and Grandad brought us here when we were young and... it’s a been a NYC tradition since. Both have passed away so keeping the tradition is all the more special, I got to share itwith the newest generation in March bringing my sister and niece in! I also brought my husband in October and we had anexceptional experience at the bar with Ty, we came after a show (a strange loop, which we also highly recommend) so it was onthe later side and they were within 30 minutes of closing. We promised to be quick knowing we were just doing a sparkling roseand six raw oysters each, and pay out directly after ordering; Ty insisted we enjoy ourselves and helped us order a variety ofoysters to sample. He took the time to explain where they came from and even shared the story behind the “naked cowboy”oysters. He made our experience so memorable. Thank you for capping off our evening in such a special way! :) our oysterratings from that trip are also posted- a little difficult to read but sampling these six types is recommended for a reallygreat variety if they still have all of them! ***The star rating is only for the oysters and clam chowder*** If you like oysters and New England clam chowder then this is... the place to get them. The only restaurant in NYC that has Belon oysters!! A must if you like a creamy and metallic flavor. Theyhave sweet overtones and a sort of 'coppery' finish which is a delight when it hits your mouth! There are also delicious cherrystone clams and many other oysters you can choose from. The clam chowder has the perfect clam to potato ratio with just theright amount of cream and thickness. If you don't like raw seafood you can also order their lackluster dishes that they offerfrom the menu. Read more

An iconic NYC dining experience. Some of the freshest, most beautiful and delicious oysters you will ever eat. Not a bad seat in... the house but I love all the counter and bar seat options. I’ve been a fan since my first work trip to New York City in 1992.Order an oyster pan roast in the winter months and you’ll leave happy. Ask servers and bartenders for recommendations onfavorite oysters and other dishes and you’ll be happy guaranteed. Don’t miss the crab cake sandwich and caviar sandwich! Read more

Great ambience, lovely decor, huge history and to top it all off, fresh oysters in the heart of the city. If you like oysters... and fresh seafood then this is an easy recommendation. They've got a wide selection of drinks as well so you're set for aluxurious meal, no matter the time of day. I'd advise to sit at the counter for a more authentic experience. It makes sense toask the staff what's best and what their favourites are as they know their stuff. Read more

This place lives up to the hype. The oysters were so fresh and delicious. They had a great wine selection & the Manhattan clam... chowder was fantastic. I also was seated and served very quickly. Read more

Great selection of east coast oysters! I prefer east coast because they are less briny. New England clam chowder and calamari... were also great dishes. Not the best I’ve had but the calamari had a very light and crispy batter. Located downstairs in grandcentral in the dining concourse Service was attentive and fast. Don’t think I’d come back though as it wasn’t memorableenough for me! Read more

Came year after 15 years to enjoy the oysters again. Some changes to the oyster bar but largely intact. Chives are not as many... oyster types as it used to be due to Covid. More cooked food selections and have probably 8 different types of oyster to offer.Oyster ranges from $2.85 to $3.85 per piece. From east to west coast , I prefer the New Brunswick and the Washington coast .Briny and lots of sea water mineral taste . Wine selection are quite a range with selection of many American wines . I orderedthe clam but it was not great. Sitting on the 50s type of chair to enjoy a simple oyster lunch! Yummy … Read more
