By far the most delightful dining experience I've ever had. Gem is elegant and inviting. Everything is carefully curated by Chef... Flynn and it shows. The restaurant has a spa-like ambiance with a quiet, soothing atmosphere. The food is healthy, delicious andbeautifully presented. Our server was friendly and informative. Everything at Gem is next level including the gorgeous dishesthe food is served on and the sparkling glassware. It's obvious Chef Flynn takes great pride in his craft and I'm so gladsomeone has worked so hard to create such a pleasant restaurant experience! Read more

Honestly, one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had eating. My partner is vegetarian and we were very excited for the tasting... menu, which is is not cheap. We decided to add the wine pairing - not only were the first 3 dishes identical, they also camewith the same wine! How can you charge $80 to serve the same wine on 50% of the dishes. To top that off the wait staff had zerodesire to make friends or chat. I asked question about the wine, the food, and silence ensued. They’re also incredibly pushy,checking in 5 minutes after each dish is presented. Save your money and go elsewhere - this place STINKS. Worst meal I’ve everhad for the price. Read more

Flynn McGarry deserves all of the accolades he receives. Besides being incredibly talented, I appreciated his warmth and his... in-person care for his restaurant. Every single person on staff was positive and kind; which added to the beautiful atmosphere.I could gush about the ambiance: Minimalist and cool without being cold. This tasting menu was a culinary adventure from startto finish. Definitely go for the wine pairing as each flavor was highlighted by a sip of the appropriate wine. I think Gem wouldplease any palate and nothing on the menu was too weird or challenging for a simple eater. I would characterize my palate assophisticated and the flavors on McGarry's menu were complex and interesting. It was delicious and filling. Seasoned toperfection. I went here for lunch and had a really lovely time. I had been wanting to go to this restaurant since I had read an article... about it several years ago. Finally got the opportunity to go to New York, and made it a priority to visit. I was mostdefinitely not disappointed, the food was very tasty but also unique, and the space itself is warm, inviting and well curated. Iwish I could go here more often in the future. Just gotta fly to New York lol Read more

Scallops 10 Shrimp 10 Bread 10 Fish main - 6.5 Duck main 9 Strawberry and pistachio dessert (9 & 10) The peas + roe 5 (myeah... myeah here.. why why ?!) Overall 4.6 and $$$ = ~$350 + tip Except the 'green peas' thingy everything was great. If i takeit outthe whole experience was great. Gem, to me, is a fabulous continuation of exploring modern American cuisine in an inventive yet familiar, elevated but... unfussy, manner that I got my first taste of with 71 Clinton Fresh Food, adored (and still do) at Contra, and is going stronghere and at places like Farra. Standouts this time around were the smoky trout roe with peas, flowering cauliflower with blacksesame, and one of the juiciest, most tender pieces of duck I've ever had (with XO sauce slathered and crusted on likechimichurri on hanger steak). ????
