TLDR: Can't get any more "NY Steakhouse" than this. Have been dining there for years and it never gets tired. Amazing atmosphere... (classic, old school) with very good meat, tasty apps, sides and a courteous service. Simple as that! Easy recommendation forwhoever wants the classic experience. To top it off the prices are very reasonable, it's what you would expect to pay for highend steak in NYC and not those "hyped" exaggerated places full of "theatrics" and "celebrities". The seafood platter thatcouldn't be fresher. The aged Porterhouse was flavorful and cooked to perfect rare as requested. A big plus: the side dishes arelarger compared to other steakhouses. It's highly recommended to get a reservation in advance because they are always packedand even on a Saturday night they had enough staff to have service run smoothly. If I might nitpick and add something, thedesert menu is a little underwhelming. Read more

It's some of the best steak in the world. There is a reason this is a world famous Steakhouse, because they deliver on the... hype. It was easily one of the best steaks I have ever had. As you enter you walk by the dry aging room, where you can see allof the steaks waiting to age. That alone is an impressive sight. And while it's not exactly cheap (menu pictures are from2019), the prices are very reasonable for a steakhouse of this quality anywhere, let alone in the heart of Manhattan. If youget a chance, go. We received absolutely wonderful service and enjoyed spectacular food. Our server was very kind and checked in on us on a... frequent enough basis. The food tasted wonderful. We ordered a steak for two medium and one medium well, both cooked toperfection. The Mac and cheese tasted wonderful, the calamari crunchy and tasted fresh, the cream spinach more on the spinachside, and the deserts were absolutely divine. After a day at work, getting to enjoy such spectacular food was an absolute treat. Read more

4.5/5. Very good steakhouse! The service was great and the food was very good. The Porterhouse is at par with all the other top... steakhouses in NY, like Peter Luger etc. You can see the steaks being cooked from some seats. The fried calamari, creamedspinach, porterhouse, and dim sum are good. The fries and macaroni are decent, nothing special. The cheese cake and key lime piewere also pretty good but for $12 a slice not that good. The waiters were fast and very friendly. The only cons were it getspretty loud and rowdy and many of the tables and seats are packed tightly together. Read more

If you’re in search a classic American steakhouse, Gallagher’s is a solid pick. First time coming here on a Sunday night for... a celebratory birthday dinner and was greeted by a pleasant and welcoming host. We were brought to the dining room that wasbustling with diners indulging in food and conversation. The restaurant has a very old-school New York feel; with dim lights, walls adorned with framed photos of iconic celebs, and red leather bounded booths and chairs. My family and I were seated in abooth that was spacious and comfortable, with plenty of room to spread our elbows. The menu has a lot to offer but we ordered agood variety for a “complete” meal. Our picks included the French onion soup, baked clams casino, the wedge salad, theporterhouse, a side of mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and sautéed mushrooms. Everything was cooked to perfection but myfavorites had to be the French onion soup, baked clams (*chef’s kiss), and surprisingly, the mashed potatoes. The mashedpotatoes did not include gravy if you’re wondering, but it really didn’t need anything additional. With all that food, wehad a bit of room for dessert. How could one pass up creme brûlée? I’m so glad I never say no to dessert because it washeavenly. Sometimes it’s the food that makes the dining experience, but the service here was amazing as well. Our waiter wentabove and beyond to make our dining experience a memorable one, and checked in often to see if everything was to our liking. Itwas my first time dining at Gallagher’s, but it most certainly won’t be the last. *Be sure to make reservations. Read more

We'd been to Keens a couple of nights before and it was so good we wanted to have another steak experience to treat ourselves... for our last night in New York. The service is outstanding at Gallagher's - the best in the city. We ordered the Rib Eye, Mac &Cheese, Fries and Sauteed Mushrooms. Pecan pie for dessert. To be honest the food overall is not as tasty as Keens but it'sstill an overall enjoyable dining experience. Read more

Absolutely delicious food and atmosphere at this old school style steakhouse. It’s so warm and inviting. The bar area is... beautiful, would love to sit here next time. My husband and I were seated in a cozy table in the main dining room- loved it! Theservice was great. Cocktails excellent. For food, we ordered the porterhouse for two, creamed spinach, and Mac and cheese.Everything was absolutely delicious!! We got a chocolate layer cake to go. Gallagher’s may be my favorite steakhouse in NYC-loved it. Read more
