What?s unique about top notch Italian food is the simplicity of it and the quality of the ingredients. This place knows how to... do just that. I?ve visited them both at their pre-pandemic location and their newer downsized post-pandemic spot and it?s alwaysthe same thing : elated smile, random words in Italian that I can never understand, excitement that you?re there to dine (likefamily!), and the most flavorful food around. I simply cannot ask more of a restaurant. The business owner has put her heart andsoul into this place and you can feel that warmth walking in. I have dreams of the day that she can bring back the bresaolacarpaccio and antipasto salad. Her downsized place doesn?t allow for a full menu but I have daydreams of those two dishes. Theircurrent menu has salads, pastas, soups, and paninis - all superb. This is my favorite restaurant that I always go out of my wayfor in NYC. Take my word for it, a must visit! Read more

The best Italian food I have ever eaten. The owner is also very sweet and seems to have a real passion for her business. I will... definitely become a regular here (not a good sign for my waistline but oh well) Read more

Can't glow enough about this place. Not only is it my favorite real Italian food in the city, but it's also some of the... cheapest. Gaia's ingredients are fresh and are wonderfully combined. Vegetarians don't despair: many of the lauded dishes aremeat, but my (vegetarian) girlfriend just texted me to remind me how much she loved the soup. I have been awaiting theirreopening for years, and my life is that much richer now that they're back! Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Read more

The new location is fantastic! The cheese foccacia meal is the best bargain in the city!! There's also a lot of the old classics... back and as delicious as ever. Gaia's spirit has well established itself in the new location. A definite destination fordowntown dining. Read more
