Terrible food. Unripened sweet plantains. Flavorless pernil. Dry sad empanadas. Chewy fried plantains. And they forgot dishes in... my order. Overall recommend to avoid like the plague. Read more

El Castillo de Jagua is a terrific place in the LES. It's local, the menu is legit and thorough, service is terrific, and it's... affordable, and I don't mean affordable by NYC standards. Thing is, you have to know what to order. Recently, my friend hit thetrifecta with pernil, Spanish rice, and beans. My salad with chicken was comprised of iceberg lettuce, slices of semi-ripetomato, onion slices, and topped with chicken that had been grated not shredded. The texture and appearance of the pollo madeeating it not so pleasant. And that was my lesson. Next time, I'll order pretty much anything else on the menu. Read more

Any time I have anyone in town we come straight here. Their smoothies and fresh juices (esp lemonade) are amazing, the mofongo... is to die for (the sauce is amazing), and their dinner plates are huge and delicious!! One of the only places in the city Ivisit repeatedly and never get tired of. As a Dominican native, I recommend! Read more

Small place but so good! Similar to many of New Yorks most tastiest Restaurants it is definitely a small place that gets a... whole lot of people dining in and taking out. Food was great, wait was a bit much but understandable with thy amount of staffand amount of consumers. Also, amazing coffee and steam sandwich!! Read more
