This is an appreciation post. I've actually been here a few times and not only do I spend some of my days dreaming about the... wholesome food but I constantly replay my first ever experience at Divya's kitchen. It is absolutely the apotheosis of casualdining. It's a small quaint restaurant in the lower east side that could easily be missed if you walk by but the energymystically calls to you similarly to how in cartoons the scent wraps around your nose and entices you to follow it to it'ssource, yeah it's pretty amazing what's going on in that place. The atmosphere is always so chill, it is literally my happyplace. The dining crew is so attentive and the food, oh my god, the food doesn't make me feel like a snorlax after I'm finishedeating. Chef Divya cooks up clean wholesome food– good for the body, good for the soul. Just the right portion withoutoverpowering flavors, like the whole thing just does it for me. Plus, she's also a very personable individual. Wait time isquick. No complaints. If you sign up for the newsletter you get the inside scoop for classes, events, not to mention promocodes! It's the perfect place for a date... even if it's with yourself honey! Do yourself a favor and check this place out! Read more

I really wanted to like this place! Some of the reviews and photos made it seem amazing. However, the vegetable curry was such a... disappointment. The make your own bowl was also poor. Sides and entrees were ok. The waitress was great and the ambience too! Read more

It’s a really cute spot and our starter was adorable. I just remember my main being very bland tasting. I unfortunately... didn’t finish it, but took it home to add my own spices! My friend really enjoyed his meal though. Read more

Amazing food. Great ambience. The vegan lasagna and biscuit with ghee were phenomenal. They were also so kind and didn’t... charge us for our chocolate mousses! Highly recommend this place! :) Read more

This is a fabulous place. Serene interior, soothing music playing, very earthy. There are SO many food options I had trouble... choosing! Finally decided on the vegetable soup with a side of the gluten bread and ghee. Perfect to warm up on a freezing day.I really enjoyed the spinach-cheese cutlets as well. The Ayurvedic chai was also lovely. Everything was so tasty! I got a sideof paneer and loved the accompanying sauce. I got the pecan cookie for takeaway: salty/chocolatey/crumbly. I will definitelyreturn. Read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. In addition to the great food, the relaxing setting (music, decor, ambiance,... service) always makes me feel like I'm visiting a food "spa". After coming here for dinner many times, we finally tried thebrunch today and oh boy this was the best brunch I've ever had. The savory waffle and vegetable pancake were amazing and sotasty that we swallowed the food. Both (and everything on the menu) were free of refined flour, made with quality house madeancient grain flour. The carob cake and the very long name tea that tastes like hot chocolate were incredible. The cakeespecially was the best "chocolate" I've had (refined sugar free!). We even saw the chef Divya at the restaurant today! Read more
