Amazing night on Friday. And let me just say, right up front, that my tastes are often more lavish than my budget and Caviar... Russe is a prime example of that (4 stars instead of 5 only because this is not a place that I can afford to patronize veryoften!).. Nevertheless it was a great celebration with great friends and I am so glad we had the opportunity to GO BIG on thisone. We had 3 types of caviar (our waiter was very helpful in pointing out which ones we might want to try - and he did not pushus to the most expensive options which I appreciate). The presentation of the caviars with their various sides is fabulous. Wealso had oysters which were fantastic. Then we decided to have some a la carte dishes from the tasting menu - we all ended upwith the scallops with truffles. SO GOOD. Note: none of the items on the tasting menu have a la carte prices listed - but don'tbe afraid to ask. We also ended up being comped a range of desserts - all of which were great but the baked alaska wasespecially fabulous - set ablaze tableside. SOME NOTES on our experience. At first we felt very rushed after we had ordered ourcaviars but had not yet ordered our dinners. The waiter hovered and would ask every few minutes whether we were ready to order. We finally told him he was making us feel uncomfortable and he explained that, if we order the tasting menu, the chef needs toknow right as we are seated for planning purposes since the restaurant was fully booked that night (both the dining roomupstairs and the bar area downstairs). Once we told him we would be ordering a la carte, everyone settled down and it was agreat service experience. Now to the tab: $750 per person which includes a generous tip. I will also add that the portion sizesare VERY GENEROUS and they replenish items without being asked, e.g., the pancakes with the caviar. GREAT RESTAURANT but for me,this is a once in a blue moon experience (because of the cost).. Read more

Caviar Russe has become one of the top high end restaurants to dine at in the entire city. There is certainly no better place to... go if your a caviar lover. I've eaten here a handful of times over the years and feel that the experience has gotten better eachtime. The room is beautiful, the service is impeccable, and the food is outstanding. Also Caviar Russe has just taken space onthe first floor that is a little more casual than the second floor dining room. I look forward to trying downstairs next time.In any event this restaurant is highly recommended and a must try! Read more

No playful pun, no name check for grandma, no oblique reference to a geographical landmark. Whoever christened this restaurant... clearly wanted to attract a certain type of customer. This is not the place where you should order by pointing vaguely at themenu, that way lies trouble because you may find yourself having to re-mortgage your home to pay for the 500 grams of Belugacaviar you have just inadvertently requested. Best leave that section of the carte to the oligarchs and retired dictators andconcentrate on the main menu. Here you will find contemporary dishes of surprising delicacy and precision, with a pleasing biastowards wonderful seafood and shellfish, such as scallops with ricotta gnudi or delicious bluefin tuna with uni and asparagus. You get buzzed in at street level, which adds a bit of mystery to proceedings. Up the stairs and you'll find yourself in alavish little jewel box, with colorful murals on the wall, Murano chandeliers hanging from an ornate ceiling, and semi-circularbooths. The only thing missing is James Bond's nemesis drumming his fingers on the table in the corner. Na Zdorovie! Read more

Service and food were excellent. My husband brought me here for our anniversary and let the staff know ahead of time so we got... some extra little desserts. I thought it was very charming and considerate. The staff explained everything as it was broughtout. To those complaining about the price not sure what they were expecting. It's not a secret before you go. Same for thoseshocked the waiters and chefs not wearing masks. Everyone is required to be vaccinated including the guests and CDC is onlyrecommending masks for indoor settings, not mandating it. If it's something you are concerned about call ahead and ask about theCovid protocols. That's your responsibility to check. Ultimately, you have to take it off to eat and so do the other guests in asmall space. Silly to worry about the staff when you're surrounded by unmasked customers. You can Eat at home instead. This place was amazing! The food and drinks were great. The staff was super attentive and gave great recommendations. They went... out of their way to get us a nice wine to pair with the caviar. The atmosphere was tranquil and relaxing. Would definitelyrecommend. Read more
