Reservations for 9pm and there was a buzz on the air. Looks but not too loud so that you couldn't have a conversation at the... table. Black rice paella was unique and delectable. Read more

Pluses: Cute, friendly, warm holiday atmosphere Good duck bao - tender with crispy skin Ok ceviche Tender and tasty “ropa... vieja” - very different than traditional ropa vieja, but the noodles with fresh herbs are fun Minuses: Tough pork belly -really hard to cut and chew, with flavorless sweet potatoes Small portions on the ceviche Kitchen closes rather early I wouldpotentially go back because it’s in a convenient location - everything was good, but nothing was a standout, especially for$70 a person without drinks. If it had been a $40 meal, I’d be more likely to go back enthusiastically. If you’re lookingfor a better restaurant in the area in the same price range, I recommend La Pecora Bianca. Read more

Paella, salmon, pork belly and ropa vieja noodles were all excellent. We started with yucca fries and Cubano egg rolls which... were also very good. Our server, Justin, was funny and friendly. There was a fun energy to the place even though it wasn'tfull. The dessert menu didn't seem very exciting but our daughter ordered the chilled mango souffle. This was delicious. Weended up ordering a second. Read more

Very nice and welcoming restaurant with amazingly friendly staff. I came for my birthday at dinner and then came back for lunch.... At dinner, despite the absolute crowds in the place, the waiters never missed a neat and we're always checking on tables. Atlunch, it's more relaxed, but the servers continued to be a great asset to the overall enjoyment of eating and taking your timein the restaurant. The overall feel of Calle Dao is open and inviting. It has some neon light fixtures and an old-fashionedlooking bar to the side, as well as an inner dining room behind a very beautiful black gate. Bits of Chinese paraphernalia, likethe wooden lattice closet, pepper the scenery. They also have an outdoor seating area. Entering for dinner, I came with friendsand we luckily got a table quickly, just before dinner rush was in full swing. Now that the pandemic is virtually over for mostpeople, the area's bars and restaurants become hubs of incredible throngs of activity once work is over, so either come a bitearly or have a reservation if you have a group. For lunch, it is more relaxed and open, but I recommend coming at later hours, brtwee 4pm and 7pm, preferably, because happy hour foods are worth it. I didn't take any photos of the dinner because I was toobusy having fun. But the experience was amazing. I had the char siu pork belly and the table ordered duck bao and tostones withpork, as well as several rounds of sangria and margaritas. The pork was tender, with a sweet sauce. It was so rich that even thesmall block I got was filling. Duck bao comes with three bao and a leg that you cut yourself to mimic a Peking duck bun. It wasnice and crispy. Pork on tostones was the best bite of the night, as the tostones were fried well, and the pork was juicy. Justbefore dessert, one of the bartenders gave me a free shot for my birthday, and he was very attentive to my liking of fruitydrinks versus alcoholic ones. We ordered a tres leches for dessert, and the staff lit the Read more

There is so much I can say I just don't know where to begin .. definitely one of my favorite restaurants in all of Manhattan. I... started coming here at least 6 years ago. I was absolutely heartbroken when they were closed due to the fire over a year and ahalf ago. And with covid running rampant I wasn't sure if they were going to reopen. And when I got the text that they reopenedmy heart was just full of joy.. It was great then .. it's fabulous now. Food is always amazing some of my favorites are theCuban sandwich spring rolls, the papaa rellenas grilled shrimp with garlic mojo, the fried rice, the tiger salad( with skirtsteak if available) and for dessert you cannot miss the dulce de leche souffle. As far as drinks there are too many to determinewhich would be my favorite.. bartenders are extremely creative, and if you're lucky "J" will create something off menu, thatwill blow your mind.. Besides the food and drinks being amazing the service is always always top notch. They are extremelyfriendly and accommodating. It's right in Midtown/ Bryant Park area and extremely accessible by public transportation. Read more

This is a really cute place. Amazing vibe, with music and dim but plenty lighting. I had mushroom noodles and it was delicious... even without the mushrooms. The waiters were amazing as well. Overall a great experience and would definitely recommend theplace! Read more
