This place used to be great. When they first opened in the original location they had the best bagels in the city, no question.... Then they expanded to many more locations. I don?t know if they got bought by some conglomerate or not. In any case the bagelsare not the same. Much heavier and doughier today, different last week, and probably different next week. I?m glad they?ve beenfinancially successful, but it?s a shame that the quality of their product has become so poor, especially in light of what theyused to do. I guess my piece of advice for any owner or manager reading this is: return to what made you good in the firstplace?great bagels?and focus on that rather than scaling up or increasing profits. Shame. There isn?t a shortage of good bagels in NYC. However this IS a shortage of those who will give you a freshly fried egg on it.... This Canadian style bagel is my top bagel spot in the city purely factoring in the perfection the egg adds to the sandwich! Iget the Plain Jane (with multigrain everything bagel) and scallion cream cheese on the side. Pro-tip: add butter and ask forlightly toasted for the perfect chewy bagel! Read more
Look, the bagels and atmosphere at this place are legit. However, it's pretty disorganised and I'd actually discourage going... there at peak times if you want to get your order quickly or correct. The bagels are amazing, and the options are great, but ifyou want to wait 40 minutes for a bagel Tompkins Square Bagel is just around the corner and you can be pretty confident you'regetting what you order. SORRY Black Seed bagels, I think you're sooooo good - but the shop is just too popular for the amountof people milling around in there, it can be chaos. Read more
Good bagels, but cold/rude staff which is disappointing. Also they often times don't make enough bagels so they run out in early... afternoon which isn't great either. Tompkins Square Bagels is definitely a better place, Black Seed is an OK back up for bagels. Read more

Got the classic 2.0 with a cinnamon raisin bagel and it really hit the spot this morning. It was the perfect mix of sweet and... savory. The smoked salmon was so flavorful and the bagel had a delicious crispy outside and fluffy, soft inside. There's indoorseating but there's not that much space. Read more
