Traveling from northern MI to southern MD and decided to order carry out comfort food from Cracker Barrel. Ordered the sampler... with pinto beans and the dumplings with green beans and mashed potatoes. The dumplings on both our dinners were just a glob. Infact, one of the dumplings had a piece of something dark and solid in it. Ham was dry. Husband didn?t eat the meatloaf. Wedidn?t eat most of our food. By the way, the biscuits were just perfect. I asked the cashier for butter, jelly, extra napkins,etc and she insisted those items were included in our bag. I explained we were staying in a hotel and didn?t have access to akitchen, so it was important that we have everything we need. She then gave us an ?extra? pack of utensils. Of three simple adult meals, all were bad. Hamburger patty was scorched, waitress got a fast replacement. Chicken strips were... hard and rubbery. The daily special, my pork chops, were also tough and rubbery. The soup was good, and the $3.19 glass ofCoca-cola was good. We don't expect to eat at a Cracker Barrel again. This was actually my first time eating at Cracker barrel. We were out of town from Michigan on our church trip -- and decided to... for dinner. The food I ordered was delicious but, our waitress had very little patience with another person at our place. Herhospitality wasn't good at all. I always order off the breakfast menu because it's just so good. I usually get the French toast, eggs, and bacon (or sausage)... meal. Their French toast is really good, they've never done my eggs wrong, and the bacon is great if you like it crunchy andcrispy. My bf got the dumplings with a side of grits, both of which I tried. The dumplings were delicious, but I thought thegrits were a bit watery. The waitress we had was also very nice and patient with the little kids, and our food came out quicklyconsidering how busy the place was. Read more
