We loved this place from the 1st cocktails to the dessert. It is a cozy atmosphere with very pleasant staff. Seats about 14... tables with 5 of those being 2-tops which can obviously be put together. This is smart for the size room and it works well. Wegot the cheeks appetizer - amazing! I got the special which was a red snapper with summer squash and an amazing basil/chivesauce at the bottom. My girlfriend got the halibut in miso and they were both incredible. All the dessert choices lookedfantastic. I tried the coconut cake which was very moist and had thin macadamia brittle decorative "sails" on top. Doyourself a favor - book a reservation. Read more
Cute environment. All food was nice, nothing outstanding. Cocktails were underwhelming.
Every bit of food was amazing. My friend said she was going to lick the plates! Sweet potato soup was tangy and delicious. Pork... cheeks melted in my mouth. I had the snapper and it was cooked perfectly. Service was excellent. Servings are small and pricesbig but the food was incredible. Read more
LOVED THIS LOCAL/INDEPENDENT GEM - after an exhausting day in NOLA (jazz fest 2022) I wanted to sit down and enjoy great food... and wine… thank you Zasu!!! AMBIENCE- wish I had taken more pics, because this place is just cool, from the fab entrance(hidden behind a tall green hedge) to the modern take on NOLA style inside this smallish restaurant. - SERVICE - we had a greatserver, put a drink in our hand quickly (which I do love, don’t we all?) and guided us knowledgeably through the menu. MENU -somewhat compact menu which I love, food was as good as the descriptors, beautifully cooked and presented too BOOZE - bonuspoints for putting a cocktail in our hands quickly, nice hand crafted list too ????????. Wine list also compact, as it shouldbe, well thought out and again very fairly priced. SUMMARY - this a locally run restaurant, with the owners delivering somethingspecial, without the advantages of scale that chain restaurants have. We had a great meal. For appetizers we had the grilled octopus and the crispy pork cheeks, both were delicious. The crunchy... green salad was very different and so good. The entrees were the beef short rib, sautéed halibut and the wild mushroom andpotato Pierogies. All were so good. The cocktails were well made and a nice wine list. The portion sizes are not big butperfect for having a great meal and not leaving stuffed. We will definitely come back. Read more
Excited to spend our anniversary at Zasu due to the ratings an accolades we had reviewed for them. We got there and we were set... in the middle of the room at a tiny table, I like to call the fish bowl. Ordered our drinks, which took decent time to get.Appetizer was baby octopus, with only 3 baby octopus.The beef short rib was amazing and on point. The halibut was anorexic andover cooked. We declined dessert and went to check out at which point the manager realized it was our anniversary and was kindenough to give us a passion fruit palette cleanser. While searching for a place to treat ourselves, Zasu came at the top of our choices. The menu seemed interesting and location... not too far away from where we were staying. Getting the reservations to it was the most challenging part. When we got ourselvesa spot, we were extremely pleased. We arrived earlier than our reserved time and seated in 10 minutes of waiting. The restaurantis very small and the noise as every other reviewers point was loud. After we gave our drink orders, we scan through the menuone more time. It was hard to choose with so many great options. We ordered salad, grilled fish and a vegetarian ravioli. All ofthe flavors amazed us. To top it we wanted to give a try to desserts. Pavlova was so good, fresh and crunchy. The service wasattentive and accommodating to few of our requests. We were pleased with this dining experience. Read more
Dined here the other night. Whether it was the signature cocktails, starters like the baby octopus, and entree like the snapper,... everything was on point. Service was attentive. Atmosphere was lively but chill enough to enjoy conversations with table mates. Read more
