Reviews for Midway Pizza in New Orleans, LA

It was either Midway or Theo's; never tried either, but decided to go with Midway. The place has a swanky website, decorated... with a video montage, newsletter, glowing reviews, etc., all on the front page to lure you in. Ordered the large thin crust TopShelf Margarita for takeout, and the total came to $30. Their online menu says "The Thin***Large Thin Crust***Feeds 4", but thepizza was the usual 8 slices, all of which were not as large as one is led to believe (i.e., if four were to share this pizza,it would be two slices per person). But the pizza looked delicious, smelled delicious, and the ingredients tasted just thesame. HOWEVER, the pizza was three-quarters bread, with the remaining one-quarter the actual ingredients advertised (marinara, garlic, olive oil, mozzarella, basil, shaved parmesan). What immediately stood out when taking the first glance at the pizzawere several very large air pockets throughout the surface of it. Normally these are superficially identified as signs of a"well-crafted gourmet pie," especially when they're blackened, but these air pockets were simply taking up space--A LOT ofspace--and crowding out the other ingredients. It literally took no more than three bites per slice to enjoy the ingredients ofthis specific pizza before winding up with mostly bread left in one's hand. In other words, going through four slices (perindividual), what one was left with was a large mound of bread on their plate, and when you have to heat up some marinara thatyou already have in your fridge just to dip the copious remaining amount of bread in it so as to "enjoy" a pizza that youbought, you know something's not right. So the $30 was primarily spent on a loaf of bread (one whose taste, texture, andconsistency were not even all that remarkable), $30 which should be refunded given how almost laughable the portion of bread wasremaining after each slice and at the end of it all. Of course not every pizza is made the same (unless you'r Read more

Midway Pizza has a huge variety of pizza options available on thin crust or deep dish. The beer was cold and the pizza was hot... and fresh, great for a rainy summer day in NOLA. We were impressed by the density of toppings on the pizza. Read more

We ordered a couple deep dish pizzas. They were very good. Could have had a little more pizza sauce on them, but I'm not... dropping a star for that. They were still very tasty. Excellent service too. Read more

They get a 5 star from my family tonight! I ordered by phone for delivery on a busy football night. They were friendly and... told us 45 minutes and we got it in 30. Pizza was hot and delicious and order was correct. Just a note, their thin crust isthin in the center but still has a nice thicker outside crust. They checked all the boxes, would definitely order again! Read more

Went here pretty late at night and all I have to say is that this will become a permanent spot for me. We ordered meatballs, a... "Reggie Dunlop" pizza that according to the website has: Chopped garlic, olive oil, mozzarella, gorgonzola, Prosciutto, pickledred onion, chopped pecans topped with arugula and a balsamic reduction and I had a beer they had on tap. The meatballs withmarinara sauce and green onions were great. I regret not having a photo to share of it but we tore into it right away. However, they weren't worth the price and they were not perfect, I have had better elsewhere.. The reggie dunlop pizza was great, butthere were a few issues with it. It was very oily, much more than I would expect from a deep dish pizza with extra oil. Yeah, that oily. It was still delicious but it was nothing to write home about. I also cannot speak on the authenticity of the "deepdish" claim, but it is not as deep as a dish as I have experienced in Chicago. They do not have many drinks available eventhough they advertise as they do. Seemingly out of every beverage. Overall, I would not recommend this place as a detour orsomewhere to plan a day around,. It should be visited if you're in the area and want to go out and have a nice evening.Everything is more expensive than it should be, and you should just go to Blaze if you want the most efficient food. This placeIS however better those restaurants so if you're feeling fancy and live in the area, I definitely recommend this place Read more
