Reviews for Mandina's Restaurant in New Orleans, LA
Nice historic restaurant you must try. Food is excellent, but the pork chops were kind of tough. You would be best to stick to... their traditional Italian dishes or fish. Bread is served as an appetizer and was amazing. Read more
Mandina?s. The name says it all but my personal experience was more than 5 stars. Upon entering this beautiful, home like place... you are greeted promptly and placed on the waiting list (Good food to those who wait). Get yourself a comfortable IPA, or a faceshattering Campari Spritz. Come prepared to eat, the portions are meant for the NO Saints football team. Words do not expressproperly what goes on, your own personal experience is needed for a complete story. Enjoy. Read more
I've dined at Mandina's on several occasions. This time, Mandina's took great care of our party of 20! We started with drinks... and several appetizers. Everything came out hot and fresh. I enjoyed the gumbo and it's dark roux. The half catfish half shrimpplate was good although not seasoned enough for my palate. Others enjoyed the HUGE stuffed shrimp plates, the stuffed eggplantand many other options. Read more
Went in during one of the busiest times and manager super accommodating. Waitress very kind. Overall, decent food. Green beans... were too salty to eat. Dessert was a little weird. Read more
Mandina's is, from start to finish, the type of place you would learn about because it's your grandparents' go-to, then you take... your first girlfriend, and eventually revisit with your wife. However, being from out of town, this was our first time and weare in our 30s. My wife tried the turtle soup because it's something we can't get back home and was surprised that it was asimilar roux to a gumbo but with a well rounded and less fishy flavor. After reading an article from bon appetit on the wall, Iwas inspired to try an Italian dish and ordered the pasta with shrimp. My wife got the boneless chicken, which was akin to asouthern-style schnitzel. Both were delicious. Service is old school and memorable with nothing left to be desired. Read more
So this place was recommended by the car rental agent at the airport. Best advice ever! It may be higher up on the price scale... for a quick lunch, but you get the bang for your bucks! The dishes were yummy, and portions that will leave you needing a doggiebag!! Don't forget to grab the savory bread pudding ???? Read more
As a native I?ve eaten here often over many years. I love the oyster platter, desserts and drinks. In years past I have received... about 22-24 fried oysters on a platter because yeah I counted them. Other places in the world literally count them on the menu6,12, 24. But in my hometown things like this were not done. Last week I received 14 1/2. I was grateful they had them, otherplaces I called did not. But I think the they have lost me, because the price has gone up but the oysters are missing. And theywere delicious as always. Read more
After suggestions on Facebook, we tried this place out while at a convention. We had a party for 7. We started with the onion... rings. They were probably the best I?ve ever had. Our party had steak, gumbo, chicken parm, and fried shrimp. The food wasfantastic and reasonably priced. Our waiter, Chris was excellent. We went back another night and had Randy who also did afantastic job. We had veal parm, corned beef, shrimp and steak and again, it was amazing. Read more
