Reviews for Loya's Mexican Restaurant in New Orleans, LA
The food was ok. We ordered quesadillas, birria tacos, queso fundido with chorizo and 2 margaritas. The queso was good but... loose. The birria tacos should be called birria quesadillas. They were really good but not tacos, which is what we ordered. Nocomplaints about the actual quesadilla. We purchased the drinks once we went to pick up the food. We weren?t asked if we wantedsalt or sugar. If given the option, I would?ve said neither. The drinks were made salt which seeped down the inside of the cupinto the drink. A s a result, they were extremely salty. I didn?t finish mine at all. Read more

The best and most authentic Mexican restaurant in New Orleans. Period. The salsa is made fresh every day. Everything on the menu... tastes exactly like you are in a small place in Mexico City getting a meal from your abuela. The birria is incredible. The tacosare fantastic. The chile relleno is amazing. Everything is delicious. And the desserts?? The tres leches is the best I've had sofar in the world. The flan is insanely delicious and layered without being too much. And they have the best churros I've evereaten. Period. If you want the real deal, come to Loya's!!!! Read more
This is a gem of a restaurant. The food is Mexico City style, not Americanized Tex-Mex. Expect perfectly cooked meats and... sublime sauces. We ordered steak tacos and the poblano enchiladas. The tacos were excellent with steak, onions and cilantroinside corn tortillas and served with tasty Spanish rice and refried style black beans. The enchiladas were filled with tenderchicken and were topped with a great tomatillo based sauce and included the same beans and rice but also a palate cleansingcucumber, onion and tomato salad. Simple decor but authentic Mexican food. Go. Read more
This place is delicious! Small out of the way place, don't miss eating here! Right from the start the salsa is absolutely the... best and chips nice and fresh, so good sign. Then the food was spectacular. Its a small eating area so be aware if you go inwith a large party. We had a large party full of picky eaters. There was only two people working when we went and they wereabsolutely hustling. Our waitress was the sweetest and incredibly on point for how busy they were. We have vegetarian eaters andkids in our group and she was so accommodating and helpful. We tried half of the menu or more and it was all delicious. I woulddefinitely come back here. Thank you so much for the great food and service! Read more
Pretty cool place. Fairly new. Some nice decorations. There are some parking spots in front as well as street parking. It was... fairly empty when I went. Staff was friendly. Gave us complimentary chips and salsa. They recommended the tamarind drink whichwas fantastic. tried the tacos and Birria. It was all great! Staff was attentive too. Would highly recommend! Read more
I went to Loya's for the first time today, and it won't be my last. I had the Quesabirria and my daughter had the steak nachos.... My meal was so good, and portion was pretty big, so I took my food home because there's no way I could finish it. My daughteralso brought her nachos home for the same reason. We also had Horchata and Jamaica (my favorite) to drink. We had a greatexperience, the service is so friendly and we also met some nice folks that were dining in, as well. I totally understand whythis place has so many positive ratings. Read more
Loved this place! Had the birria tacos-delish! Boyfriend had a soup and loved it as well. We enjoyed the fresh salsa (never had... it served warm before!), the queso, guacamole, and of course the $5 margarita special! Read more
