I love this place! You know how you have a go to feel good restaurant that you know won't miss with flavor? Kindred is my go to... place for lunch and dinner in Louisiana. As a side note they have a great bar but the drinks below are mock tales. Atmosphere:laid back, chill environment. I wouldn't consider this place upscale. It's cozy and relaxed. Service: I've been several timesand they don't miss. Friendly with great suggestions. Food: Slappin and priced great. Each item is under 20 but they're pricedso that you can order more than one. I usually spend about $30 because I like to eat ????. You can definitely do it for under$20 per person. I'm never disappointed. Read more

Food was okay. Nice atmosphere. Greatful to find a vegetarian restaurant in NOLA, especially one that is only two blocks away... from the train line. Sandwiches were sparse; hardly any greens added to it such as tomatoes, lettuce, etc. If I'd known this, Iwould have saved my salad greens to put on my shrimp poboy. We were taken aback by the service charge. There is an 18% servicecharge, and this doesn't include tip. Whatever prices you see on the menu, be sure to add 40% to that cost to account for the18% service charge + 20% tip. The explanation we received was that the 18% service charge covers the paychecks of the staff inthe back. I'd prefer if they just raised the cost of the food by 18% rather than be surprised by the bill at the end. Read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. We came during happy hour and grabbed drinks. The drinks were tasty and made wonderfully. I... can't stop speaking about how delicious the vegan meatball sub and fried mushrooms were! The server was nice too. Just anoverall great time. I can't wait to come back. Read more

Great place with amazing vegan food! The staff was friendly. We ordered nachos and brussel sprouts. Nachos were very good, the... brussel sprouts were a bit burned though. The maple burger was very tasty. The po-boy was a bit dry and could use more sauce, still good though. Spaghetti was okay, i wish they would grate the cheese or just omit it instead of putting a whole slice ontop. The meatballs were a very good meat substitute. Overall good, there's a place for improvement though. Read more

This place is a gem on Maple Street. The fried mushrooms were superb. The service from Tucker was also courteous and prompt. The... burger was really good although I would?ve put more mayo on it personally. Worth a try if you like vegan stuff. I was actuallyamazed that the fried cauliflower mac & cheese did not have any milk products. It really felt like actual mac & cheese. Read more

I stopped by Kindred on a Thursday night for dinner; I arrived around 7:30 p.m. No one else was in the restaurant. There was... one staff member, who greeted me. I asked if they were still open (their posted hours were until 9:00 p.m.) and she said "for alittle while longer." I dined in, and ordered the Fried Mushrooms and Quinoa Salad. Both items were delicious and I reallyenjoyed them. It took quite awhile for that staff member to come back and take my order. Then once my order was served, Ididn't see her again until she just brought me the check. She never offered to refill my water (which was empty for most of thetime I was there), asked how the food was, if I wanted to order anything else. She just brought me the check, and I definitelywas made to feel that she wanted to get me out of there, even though it was well before their posted closing time. It should benoted that this restaurant adds an 18% service charge to all orders, and adds an additional 5% service charge for takeoutorders. They also then request a tip. I didn't see the note on the menu about the 18% service charge (that's my fault). WhenI saw it on the bill and asked about it, I was told that it was added to be given to the staff in the front and back of house. That sounds like a tip to me. I recommend that this restaurant increases the prices of their menu items versus adding multipleservice charges as additional items to customer bills. If the owner wants to give everyone 18% of each sale, that's admirable, but that's something that can be done in the "back of house" without making customers feel like they're getting nickeled anddimed and paying a lot more than the menu items indicate that they will be paying for their meal. Asking for a tip on top ofthat (when the service charge effectively functions as one) is a big ask...almost 40% for someone ordering takeout! I'm givinga three star review for the service experience I had, which is definitely sub-par, especially co Read more

The fried mushrooms were fantastic. Get the Mac and cheese! Get the fries! I loved the "shrimp" po'boy. 100% accommodating to... vegans and people with other dietary restrictions. Great staff, great food, overall enjoyable experience. Read more
