while visiting New Orleans, we were told that this place is home to "authentic" po-boy sandwiches. you know, like if you visit... Philly, you just have to try ____ for an authentic Philly sandwich. I would have to agree with the locals here. the wife and Ishared a crawfish and alligator po-boys, m.i.l. had a chicken po-boy. sides were fries and seafood gumbo. the alligator wasthe best in our opinion, and the soup had a 1/2 small crab in it. it was a fun place and very crowded! if you want to sit andeat, send a partner to grab an open table if one becomes available, while the other stays in line to order. ** BE AWARE ** CASHONLY HERE Read more
Great food and really lovely folks working there. We shared a shrimp po-boy and two beers. Everything was fresh and super... satisfying other than one shrimp that taste a bit off but that is just a roll of the dice. Fairly priced for how large thatsandwich is and for being in the French Quarter. Read more
The alligator sausage was good and the eggs were cooked well. The hush puppies were OK too.The grits had no seasoning to them at... all, then we're covered in melted cheese and shrimp. It wod be nice if the accepted electronic payments. Read more

Downtown New Orleans? Of course you gotta try a Po'Boy! I mean after all, it's one of New Orleans most famous dishes. After a... handful of locals recommended me Johnny's I decided to give it a shot. Upon arrival this place was packedddddd, I was hungry, and literally dying from the walk since the weather in New Orleans is not what I'm use to. But anyways, we ordered 2 Po'boys.Alligator Sausage/Fried Shrimp. These sandwiches are something I'm regular with as in Seattle I love to order them, but Seattleisn't the originator is it. The service was great and we received our food pretty fast even though there was so many customers.Seating is almost non existent based on the amount of traffic this place gets, but be patient and you will score a table! Oncewe sat down and took a bite of the Po'boy I was immediately happy. The flavor was good, the bread was fresh, the food was hot.My wife and I both thought the Alligator had better flavor than the shrimp. This may be biased as we don't have Alligator oftenin Seattle so it was a rarity. Don't kill me for saying this but I do think here in Seattle we have better Po'boys. It was justmissing something....more sauce maybe? A chilotle mayo possibly? I'm not sure. Overall, Johnny's was pretty cool for a touristexperience. I would suggest everyone to stop by for some good food and service. - Colter W Read more
