Reviews for Espíritu in New Orleans, LA
My wife and I love Mexican food! We made early dinner reservations on a Friday evening to visit Espiritu. Admittedly, we are not... huge mezcal fans but we wanted to really try Espiritu anyways. The Carta de amor and margaritas were fantastic! Consider usconverted to mezcal. As other reviewers mention, the guacamole is wonderful. It has a very fresh taste. For dinner my wife hadtacos and I have a steak torta. Highly recommend! Read more
Stopped in here to kill some time before a late dinner reservation and As soon as I walked in I instantly wish I had made plans... to eat dinner there. The ambiance, the vibe, the decor and plants are just awesome. The bartender was extremely knowledgeableabout tequila and mezcal which is really rare and totally appreciated. Just let him know what your pallet is craving and he willrecommend the perfect one. This place has a great selection of good tequila as well. We ordered the Cajun queso dip, thehabanero salsa and the tomatillo salsa which were all just perfect. My friend had been jonesing for street corn for months so heordered. He said it’s the best he’s ever had. I have not eaten a whole meal here yet but I definitely will very soon andupdate this review, but so far, I absolutely love this place! Definitely a hidden gem! Great Mexican restaurant. I had to change the Cajun/Creole meals for a night. I wanted guacamole and tacos. This place was... perfect. Guac and Chips were delicious. I had the sweet potato taco and the Baja fish taco, both were excellent. I highlyrecommend this place. Staff is friendly, dress is casual, and prices are fair. Read more
Friend and his wife brought me here when we had some time to kill before another event. In hindsight, I’m so thankful we... stopped in. First, it seems to be a little hidden gem along a nondescript street that honestly looks like it was closed from adistance. When we approached and entered we were able to get a seat immediately at the bar. Our bartender, Zen, was veryfriendly and an excellent mixologist. She recommended some Mezcal-based drinks for me and my group and we got started. Afterdiscussing Mezcal for a little while, the owner, Jason, happened to wander over and joined the conversation and made some reallyincredible recommendations for things we should try. Every Mezcal we had was better than the last. Because I was also justtaking recommendations from the bartender and owner, a little part of me wondered what the bill was going to look like when Ileft but surprisingly it was extremely affordable. In short, come for the food but stay for the mezcal and experience. Thepeople and the products here really differentiate this place from my average New Orleans dining experience. Read more
So yummy and great atmosphere! A bit of a wait for food but meh, I kind of expect it at places with good food these days. The... corn was to die for, and there are a few great vegetarian tacos! Read more
Let's just get this out of the way first and foremost: This guacamole is OFF THE HOOK. I have eaten a LOT of guacamole in my... time (one could even say it's one of my favorite food groups ;) ), and this was by FAR the best. I'm likely going to go backjust to get another dose of it before I leave New Orleans. Okay, now that you know that the guacamole is a must-order, we'lltalk about the tacos. I got one of the Sweet Potato Tacos (I left off the cheese since I'm vegan) and one of the CauliflowerTacos (which is vegan as-is, since it has cashew crema). Both were flavorful and tasty. The atmosphere in Espíritu is cozy, welcoming, and warm. I loved all of the plants, the local art (some for sale!) on the walls, and the fun wall paper. My friendand I enjoyed everything about our visit. My friend and I found Espíritu kind of on a whim...we decided last-minute to go forsome food, and this was the closest place that had options for me (a vegan) and for her (an omnivore) to where we currently werein the city. What a great, unexpected find! And, just for the record, my friend seconds my opinion on the guacamole. Run -don't walk - to Espíritu and order that guacamole NOW! :) Read more
I tried this place on a whim, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. There’s not a lot of good Mexican food places in New... Orleans, but this one is among the better ones. The Cajun Queso was very, very good and the pork tacos were great as well. Icould definitely see myself coming back here again in the near future. Read more
Outstanding. By any standard. Mezcal selection is on point. Tacos are actually kickin.’ Staff takes their job seriously, and... their passion is evident at every turn in the dining process. Really great experience and food. Love the art too. Read more
