Reviews for El Pavo Real in New Orleans, LA
I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place, but honestly it's probably one of my favorites. The food is fresh. My family is... from Mexico in the Yucatan Peninsula (Merida) and this food reminds me of my family. ???? It's different than most Mexican foodyou can get in Louisiana, Think more tropical, less desert. More fresh ingredients, more acidic and sweet flavors with thespice. The food makes me so happy I cannot adequately describe, there's a nostalgia to it for me. The guacamole has lots of lime(which I love). The service is prompt and friendly. The atmosphere is pretty easy-going, even if fast paced. The decor is cuteand lots of folks I know enjoy it as a date spot. The only issue I'd have with the ambiance is that it's quite echoey and canget loud when there's tons of people. (Dinner time it's packed) However, 3:30p-5:30p they have a half off happy hour wherechips, salsa, and guac are half off too. ???? Reece and Ethan were excellent servers to us today even on top of having manyresponsibilities, still gave us incredible service and just the right amount of attentiveness. I love going to this place andhave for years. Read more
One of my all time favorites? best tamales in Louisiana. Great service, food and killer drinks. Margaritas are on point and the... beer is nice and cold. Love the atmosphere? a little ?seat yourself? cafe style. The food is super fresh, house made tortillasand rotating specials, all a great price. ???????? Read more

My wife and I went here tonight after hearing how good it was. The queso was so good and a generous portion. The al pastor and... steak tacos were on point, with the steak actually cooked medium rare. The plantains with mole sauce might be the best in thecity. Plus the service was great. Check this place out! Read more
I?ve never had a bad meal here. Probably the best and most authentic Mexican food in the city. The servers are all so nice.... Definitely would recommend the crab and avocado quesadilla, fish tacos, and breakfast burrito. Their happy hour is also solid. Ionly wish they were open later and also open on Sunday and Monday. 10/10. Best Mexican food in the city. Unlike a lot of "boutique" mexican restaurants in this city, they make their tortillas... in-house. Homey dining room that felt like my grandmas house. This is as authentic as it can get here. Will be returning. Foodis priced great for the quality and the taste. Read more
The food is very good but the customer service is horrible. I live in the neighborhood so I try to give them another chance... every few months but they never have a hostess therefore people congregate at the front door and you are not sure who should gonext. I waited 20 minutes for someone, anyone to approach the crowd at the door and when customers who just pushed past to getto the front of the line, I knew it was time to leave. I go to dinner to relax not to get in confrontations with other patrons. It is a real shame because the food is good and they are busy so you would think they could afford a hostess. Read more
