Reviews for Cho Thai in New Orleans, LA
I've been here before and got the seafood green curry. It was delicious but after a while I didn't like the feeling of chewing... the calamari and mussels(this is just a personal preference of mine). This time however I got the green curry but with shortribs instead.... DELICIOUS! You could cut the ribs in half with light pressure from a spoon! Also the restaurant itself isreally beautiful. The spicy clams are fire ???? the Tom kha is fantastic. I didn’t get any drinks but they sounded good.
Really really good! Needed a break from Cajun/French food and heard good things about this place. It lived up to it! The Muu... Ping appetizer was wonderful. It was well flavored, the right portion and melt in your mouth pork. We got there just beforeHappy hour ended and didn't realize they had specials, but our server suggested a few and they were all amazing. The 'low' point(and it was still good) was the beef laab. Broth was well flavored but the beef itself had almost not flavor, it was essentiallybrowned ground beef. Once i let it soak in the broth a bit, it was much better. But the high point of the night was the duck! They had just added it to the menu that night and we were literally the first to order it. It was perfectly cooker medium rarewith a pineapple fried rice and sweet coconut curry. It was more than enough food for two, I would say probably 3 - 4 peoplewould be happy with it and a few apps. hope they keep it on the menu and highly suggest trying it! Different in all the rightways. Special shout out to our server, she was training a new server while handling a lot and did a wonderful job. Attentiveand gave excellent suggestions. Will be glad to go back! Read more
Early dinner, had 2 appetizers and a entree to share. The ambiance is really amazing...not so much for the food! Server was... excellent! Read more
I got the Short Rib Chiang Mai Noodle, and my god this was the best broth I've ever tasted. So flavorful and layered, and worth... the price. I personally think this dish would be better with a lighter protein like chicken or shrimp, or even just lots ofveges, but it was still very good. I tried my friend's ramen, and the broth was also amazing -- although I think mine was alittle better. Also, the Thai tea Margherita is so light and easy to drink, but very flavorful. I was really quite impressed! Idefinitely will return for Happy hour. Read more
This place has a great Happy Hour and believe me, I know because we tried the entire happy hour food menu! Before the food came... the Lychee Martini, $5 during HH and it came with 3 lychees on the cocktail skewer. The food items ran from $2 for sticky riceto $8 for grilled calamari. Our second cocktail was the Thai Basil Smash, not on happy hour. Good, but not as good as the lycheemartini. Because there were only two of us, we sat at a small table and it became quite amusing to see the servers trying tomake room on the table for all we had ordered. There were several boxes of leftovers enjoyed the following day! Definitely wortha visit if you’re anywhere near 3218 Magazine Street. Read more
I was surprised by this restaurant since I live in a super small rural town in Alabama. The restaurant is a great vibe from the... inside to the outside. I really don't know what to say about the meal I ordered which was the short rib Chiang Mai noodles. Ihonestly have nothing to compare the taste to. It had a pleasant taste and the aroma was nice. Now let's talk about these crabclaws, they were by far the best I have ever tasted in my 44years of living. If you want to try something different please visitthis place Read more
I’ve been here twice, once for happy hour and another for dinner. Happy hour is great! The Cho’s Fried Chicken, Roti, and... Muu Ping we’re all half priced and delicious. The Lychee Martini was half priced too, so I gave it a try. It was a very basiccocktail, so I wouldn’t get it again. I finished my happy hour outing with the Khao Soi. Ehh, it was okay but I was expectinga flavor explosion based on some of the other reviews. The short rib was extremely tender though. On my dinner visit, I had theThai Basil Smash cocktail and it didn’t wow me at all. The pork rolls were amazing and the portion size was big! I had them asan appetizer, so couldn’t eat much of my entree (Chicken Drunken Noodles). It was very good and I was able to finish it thenext day. Another guest had the Crab Fried Rice. It was pretty good but the rice was a bit sticky and didn’t remind me of“fried” rice. Overall, I was impressed with mostly everything I tried. I think I’d definitely return for the happy hour!
