We randomly wandered in here for lunch during our wanderings of the riverfront and Jackson Square. What we didn't know when we... walked in was that the Pontalba Buildings are known as the oldest apartment buildings in the United States, designed in the1800s by the Baroness Pontalba. We walked right in and had no wait on a Sunday for a late lunch. We went Cajun with our order aswe got a crawfish and a Cajun sausage po'boys and the fried alligator. The bread for the po' boys was mouthwateringly fresh.Everything was delicious if simple. Our server was attentive but did not rush us to leave as we slowly ate. As we sat and ate wecould watch the bustle and street performers around Jackson Square through the large open glass windows and doors. Read more

The food was amazing, our server was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and the rest of the staff was great! It is nicely... air conditioned, the meals come in good sized portions, and you get a beautiful view of the Square! I go here every time thatI?m in NOLA! ???? Read more

So. Good. We had the most delicious Cesar salad ever. They used pecans instead of croutons and the dressing was the freshest we... have ever had. We also ordered the shrimp etuofee and Rain Cajun Pasta. Amazing. Service was superburb and we were able to geta table by the walkway to accommodate our pup. Highly recommend. You will not be disappointed. Read more

The location is convenient to Saint Peter's square. Real french toast and the eggs, grits and bacon were all good. The server... Tia was super! Read more

Pontalba was decent, not grand and or upscale. It's Not Costco or Chili's but it's far from Commanders. It's not the best for... relaxing or chilling as a locale. Location is convenient for lunch for Jackson Square / French Market Vendors, visitors, localemployees of surrounding businesses and tourist. Boudin Spring Rolls are the best in Louisiana HANDS-DOWN and BlackenedAlligator is better than Felix's Oyster House. ???? Read more

They were quite busy on the afternoon we visited. However, the wait was really not too long to get in. The service was quick and... friendly. Their crawfish etouffee was probably my third favorite dish that we had in New Orleans. The red fish was absolutelyamazing in the citrus cream sauce really made it something to remember. Read more

I would not recommend it. I had the Caesar Shrimp Salad. My husband had a Shrimp Pasta. Both were very small servings. The... salad was a little large than a side salad. The pasta dish was small. A piece of bread on the side would have been nice. Thecrab cakes were not fresh. The meal was overpriced and not worth it. You don't mind paying for a good meal. This certainlywasn't good. Read more
