We are from out of town and were passing through and saw this gem. We decided to pull off for some good ol fashioned bbq, this... place did not disappoint! Only been here a few times now, but each time it seems better than before. It is well worth a little drive to get here. The... chicken and ribs are both fall of the bone, moist and tender. This was the first time that I tried the beef brisket and it didnot disappoint. All the meats were great. The salads were also very tasty. I'm not sure how they get the potato salad to be socreamy tasting, but I'd say it was my favorite even though the coleslaw and mac and cheese were delicious. Read more

I was planning on driving in a different direction direction to another barbecue place to find out that it has been permanently... closed. I decided to go out to new market barbecue and and they must have known that that was my 1st time there because theygave me the best half chicken plate plate I've had in a while.. The breast meat was so moist and I loved that potato salad andthe baked beans were delicious too. We have had the pleasure of purchasing meals from New Market BBQ for a number of years. The menu has remained about the same... with a few tweaks and changes. We are rarely disappointed. The BBQ pork is consistently very good. It is well flavored andmoist. A few times in the many visits we have made, it has been a little dry. A minor criticism and probably hard toavoid. This is a family run operation. It is small and well managed and the owners are conscientious. It is not a chainrestaurant. The menu is available until they run out. There have been a few occasions, such as the case today, when I arrivedabout 1:30 PM for lunch on a Sunday. I was planning on ordering the BBQ chicken plate but they were sold out. Based on myexperience, chicken is often one of the items most likely to be sold out later in the day. The BBQ pork is consistently today.Today, I had a large pork sandwich with vinegar slaw. It was very good. Also, the smoked macaroni and cheese was very good. So,a word to the wise: If you have your heart set on a specific meal, arriving earlier or ordering on line is a good Idea.Otherwise, you may miss eating your favorite meal. The restaurant is informal. We used to eat inside. The dining area isessentially a bar type of operation but is now closed. I am sure that was originally because of COVID, and perhaps it still is,but also probably more convenient for the restaurant. We are out meals today outside in the car as the picnic tables werefull. Well, Ive lived in this area for about 30 years and today was our first time at New Market BBQ. Why oh why did we wait to eat... here??!! It was SO good! We had brisket and pulled pork plates and topped it off with pecan pie. Couldn't have been better.Definitely be a returning customer. Read more
