You guys .. this woman can cook! ????? We had to catch a train on our way out of town. Needing real food for the ride and not... some generic train station fare we found Madeline's on Google maps. I can't recommend it enough. Give yourself some time as shemakes you some of the finest Latin/Caribbean flavors you'll ever find. By the way, her chimi is straight up out of this world.???? This is the toughest review to write. The empanadas are amazing, but the service was terrible. When we came in it was just us... and another couple in the restaurant. They they started getting more phone orders towards the end of our meal. We were given thewrong dish, (didn't say anything because it took a while to come out, we were headed to a movie after and the dish was good -just not what was ordered). We also placed a takeaway order before our last dish came out and it took almost an hour to get it.A few people came in for pick up orders as well and were kept being told 5 mins when it ended up taking 15-20 minutes. We werebeing told just a minute over and over. Not sure how many people were working the kitchen (seemed like just 1 person), but whenit gets busy you should know to manage customer expectations. What a gem! Stopped in because I thought that they had a couple of veggie items, but this place actually has a ton of... veg-friendly items. A hidden gem in New Haven! The food is consistently excellent. Could not pick a favorite if I tried. The owner is warm and... friendly and the staff is the best we have seen in a very long time! Empanadas are so good and freshly made to order. A true gem is fair haven. The owner is top notch hands down awesome when it... comew to hospitality. I ordered Empanadas during hours which she would have normally been closed. She still made my order andpick up as convenient as if she was opened. I loved her this because I was hungry and wasn't cooking after a 2 hour trip. Read more
