Reviews for Book Trader Cafe in New Haven, CT
I took my Florida grandchildren there and was immediately told that children get a free book the first time that they visit the... store so my grandchildren had a great time each picking out one to buy and one to get free! We are big believers in reading tochildren so they couldn't wait to get home with their books and get read to. Read more
The Book Trader Café is beautiful, cozy, and it has shelves lined with so many books! There is plenty of selection, and a... decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating! The staff is polite & courteous, there are so many drink options, and everythingelse is what one would expect for a good quality café! This is a popular venue, so indoor seating is limited on the weekendsand there's usually a line due to popularity, so prepare accordingly! Overall, if you're looking for a cute & cozy atmosphere, and a great place to have a chat or get work done, then give this place a try! Read more
Very cute café and used bookstore! The staff was extremely pleasant. I felt very welcome. I ordered a vegan chai and it was... pretty good; it had the perfect amount of sweetness. One minor critique is that my table had crumbs, but I probably arrived atan odd time and it was an easy fix. The wifi actually works. Just make sure you pick the correct network and read the signscarefully. (Who reads in a bookstore? Bad joke.) The book selection is small, but the bookcases are really organized and thesections are clearly labeled. It was a lovely time. Will definitely visit this place again soon! Read more
Good coffee surrounded by knowledge and bagels. Nearly every book on the shelves here is a gem. A lot of Yale students hang out... and study here. Read more
I ordered the Fear and Loathing in Lox Vegas, a bagel with lox and capers, and settled down to find a new read. Large tables, a... patio, and wraparound window seating provide a variety of options for people to read, plug in a computer, or visit with friends. It is a peaceful place to eat and read, as the dining room is in the center of a set of high bookshelves, which offer asmattering of used books across categories. When I ventured into the stacks, I found that each section was clearly labeled, andtheir fiction section was much larger than I expected from the store?s small size. I was only in town for the day, but I wouldrecommend this bookstore to anyone looking for a book to read on the train and a bite to eat. Read more

This is my favorite coffee shop in New Haven or anywhere for that matter. There is a great atmosphere and you can always find a... great book or cd/dvd. The staff is always super friendly and welcoming. My favorite thing about the Book Trader however is thescones you can smell them baking when you walk in, they are huge and delicious. I?d much rather go to the Book Trader than oneof the big name places. The staff is much more friendly and you feel more like you know everyone. Read more
