I have to say, this restaurant completed my perfect experience to Nevada City. My family and I went hiking on the "Deer Creek... Tribute Trail" and after we finished, we parked behind the amazing, "National Exchange Hotel." Enough of our trip though. Thisrestaurant has a beautiful French Chef inspired menu with cooks that can execute things quickly. The service was quick and veryfriendly. This place is a must stop when coming to the area. I cannot wait to come back here. That being said, make sure youplan your meals with your trip because a lot of places in the area are breakfast and lunch only or dinner only so there are afew hours of being unable to get food. All in all, I cannot wait to come back Broad Street, especially for this restaurant. Read more

Nice atmosphere and very friendly service, but I felt uncomfortable the entire time due to the level of cleanliness. I kept... having to wave away flies and as we were seated at the counter, I just watched and waited each time the cook set out a completeddish to see whether a fly would land on the food. I also had a direct line of sight on the stovetop and while it doesn'tparticularly bother me if the person preparing my food isn't wearing gloves, it did strike me that this guy was handling thefood more than was necessary - for example, plating the English muffins with his bare hands and fumbling with them where hecould have just used a spatula to transfer them. Restroom cleanliness was honestly unacceptable and a look behind the scenes onthe way to the restroom wasn't super encouraging. For all of that, the food was just OK, not really worth the price. I usually don't do this review thing but...this place is awful. The food was greasy gross, I still felt ill the following day.... The tab was close to $50 for a hamburger, breakfast crepe, tea and a coke. Just a heads up, walk on by. The one star is onlybecause you have to give them something. Read more

We, two, were seated & ordered before a group of 4 entered. That group was served their meal long before we were served our... meals. I spoke to the waitress & she said that they arrived before us. I told her that was not so. The waitress offered noapology or discount. There are other places nearby to eat, try them. The food was ok but just ok. Read more

I wish I could edge my rating up to a 4.5, because this place was definitely better than a 4. I stopped for breakfast as part of... checking out new (to me) places in my community and found a new favorite. In addition to standard diner fare, they had crepesof both savory and sweet varieties, so I had to give that a try along with my usual bacon, eggs, and pancakes. And, because theylooked amazing, I added on one of their house-made biscuits as well. Everything was great from. The service to the food. Whynot 5 stars? Well, it was that biscuit. Perfect, probably, if I would have slathered it in gravy, it was just too dense with thebutter and jam I put on. Frankly, the light and fresh crepe and fluffy, flavorful pancakes set my expectations a littlehigh. If you are in town and the Classic Cafe is open, stop. You'll be glad you did and your stomach will be happy for hours. Read more

I don?t get this place. I?ve had good meals here and disappointing ones. This time I ordered a crepe and it was old and tough... like shoe leather. I wish I?d sent it back but it had taken cook so long to get the order out, I skipped it. Loud salsa musicfirst thing in the morning. Painful. On the pricey side. Fly problem prevails Read more

Lovely diner with delicious food. Great staff and service. The homemade hollandaise sauce is one of the best we've ever had.
