Awful, can?t even give it a star. Chicken was old and was tasted like it was warmed up in a microwave. My beef was horrible. If... you are thinking about going here. Change your mind and go a block away and go to the other Mexican restaurant. Seems like theother restaurant takes pride in making there food. Do not go to EL MEZCALITO! A very inviting atmosphere here. Authentic Mexican food that most Mexican restaurants around here seem to lack. The prices are... more than fair, especially with the serving size! I was very pleased with not just the huevos rancheros, pero the margaritas arefantastic. I also heard that the owner came from California, bringing some of that California taste and food culture to Iowa.Love it. Will more than likely come again for breakfast and lunch. Authentic Mexican food in the most unique location. If you happen to be in Nevada Iowa and looking a good place to eat wether it... be for a quick lunch break or a evening with someone special this location is worth checking out. I came for lunch . Muy delicioso! We had a beef quesadilla, a chicken chimichanga, and for dessert, a yummy cinnamon and caramel xango (fried... cheesecake dessert chimichanga)! Everything was fresh, hot and speedy. The staff is very friendly. The atmosphere is warm, andthe music is fun and just the right volume to enjoy. We will definitely be back, especially for the light and flakey chips. ???? Read more

Went at 5:45 on Saturday. Chips were greasy, not salted, and thick. Salsa tasted like spaghetti sauce and the guacamole had no... cilantro or spices in it. 2 margarita flavors not available. We then waited an hour for our order while others who cam in aroundus were served their orders first. When we did the get food it was gross. Had steak tacos with 3 bites of steak. No beans norice, no flavor. Friend had mushy, strange texture enchiladas, and other friend wouldn't eat what she ordered. Had to leave fora show or else i's have asked to talk to who ever owned this place and asked them why they would serve people food like this Wepaid 81$ plus 12$ tip for food that we could not eat. 100$ for a horrible meal.
