A group of us came to the Royal for dinner and to check out some live music. Our server, Ostara, was the highlight of our night!... She was hilarious and friendly and gave us great recommendations for menu items. The food was great! The appetizers that Ostararecommended were amazing and we all got burgers. The restaurant got very busy and Ostara was training a brand new server so weknew we had to stay realistic when it came to how much time she could give us but she did an excellent job keeping up witheverything- even keeping our water cups filled! Beautifully furnished and decorated! Patio is really nice and the location is splendid. The live music and the food are nicely... selected and the beer selection (12 on tap, changing every keg) is top notch ???? spent basically all nights when in Nelson hereat the Royal Read more

The "Would Crush" beer was outta this world , 10/10 would crush over and over and over. The crushable burger was one of the best... burgers I've had in a restaurant taste wise and price point( And I am an avid burger lover) The deep fried Brie was da bomb!Really dig this place ???? Read more

Fantastic spot for drinks and live music - the whole team at the Royal did an amazing job with the update, the place is super... clean and bright, sound is great throughout the space and they've been doing an awesome job of bringing in a huge variety oflocal music. Great beer selection with fair prices and regulary changing options, and a nice simple food/appy menu with aneffort to source local ingredients! Old school video games in one corner, a proper pool table, some different corner booths torelax with friends, proper stage/dancefloor, great use of this awesome heritage building. Really positive place to spend anight, you can feel how much the new owners care about it and how happy all the staff are, everyone i've met here has beenhaving a great time, really cannot recommend it enough, 10/10!
