Nice little boutique restaurant that serves up some phenomenal sushi. We had a Salted and spicy edamame. I had Whale of a Roll... and the Dragon. Dragon was my favorite. Kids had white rice bowls with Teriyaki and beef. Wife picked a couple of chicken rollsas sushi is not her favorite. But let me tell you how delicious the mermaid tails were. My favorite dish of the night. Weenjoyed the view of the bay as we were sat in the corner and could see out back. Thanks for having us. Service was amazing aswell! Read more
As a native, there's a certain way we are to anyone and everyone... it's called Southern hospitality. The food IS great and... fresh, but the service is to be desired. The servers do NOT greet you or check on you. Taking care of someone should be apriority... if you went to a restaurant and received the same treatment, would you return? Would you recommend them? A fairly adequate restaurant. The sushi was pretty good, seemed fresh and had a good flavor. Good presentation and layout. The... service on the other hand was not as satisfactory. We originally sat inside, but after waiting 10 minutes and watching theserver attend to the guests who sat after us we asked for a different table and server. From there everything else went fairlywell, orders were taken and brought out. The wasabi, chopsticks, and napkins were forgotten about until we asked the server tobring them out. From that point the server was attentive, filled up our water and asked about refills for our drinks. Read more
Jack at Slippery Mermaid served me a Crazy Mermaid and an Eel roll with a Big Top Coconut Coffee Stout (or was that a porter?). ... I was seated immediately at the bar on a Saturday afternoon. Traffic was light around 4PM, and pretty hopping an hour later. Jack was fast at the draw with the beer (which was delightfully weird) and great for conversation. The sushi was the best I'veever had anywhere. A little soy sauce and wasabi on the eel rolls made them perfect. Crazy Mermaid has so many flavors, itdoesn't need much augmentation.
