The atmosphere is great. We enjoyed looking at the photos and guessing who everyone was. All 6 of us enjoyed delicious meals, we... tried everyone's plates and my halibut was the winner then the truffle fries were a close second. Read more
My team visited for lunch during DC Restaurant Week, the food at the Occidental was really good and we all had something... different. The best part of our visit was the service, hands down Ashley is one of the best servers in the area!! Her knowledgeof wines (and their appropriate glasses) really scored big with me. She was patient answering our many questions about the menuitems and remained kind even when overwhelmed by the group's excitement and enthusiasm. Great location, very nice staff and a very peaceful place. But the food wasn't that great. I ordered the Amish chicken sandwich... and it was a very average gas station kinda club sandwich :) for real! My friend ordered the Salmon and he wasn't very happyeither... I hope they work on the food taste and quality cause this restaurant is a beautiful place. Read more
Everything is really excellent about this location: the service, the decor, the history, you name it, just top notch. However,... the food ???? with all honesty was average. The quality, taste, an flavor were okay with both the half chicken platter and thesalmon platter we ordered. Not worth the price. They were cooked/served without salt ????and I don?t care what secret recipe youhave, if you don?t use salt when you cook, might as well head to the nearest senior living buffet (no offense). A nice, quiet place to have lunch and a challenge to remember the names of the famous people whose portraits are hanging... everywhere. The short rib grilled cheese sandwich had lots of tender meat and was oozing with cheddar and Bel paese cheese. What made it unique and special was the radicchio-citrus marmalade.
