Decent yakitori, thick cut pork belly, chicken thighs and the wagyu beef was good. Their holiday cocktail is delicious.

A friend and I had reservations for lunch at the counter. The nigiri hamachi yellowtail was delicious; nigiri blue fin tuna... (medium fatty belly) was...OK; miso soup was tasty; and the Spider roll was amazing. Service was prompt and not intrusive. Willreturn the next time I'm in DC. Dec 3/22 Read more

I am struggling to think if I've ever had a worse meal. If I have, it certainly wasn't one I paid $40 a head for. (And that was... cheap given that none of us was drinking.) We had the Shabu Shabu. Don't. The broth was tasteless, a few mushrooms, a bit ofcabbage, and some chunks of tofu. The beef was ok but the chicken meatballs fell apart on being put into the broth, and werelaced with garlic that had no mention on the menu. The sauces were also tasteless, and oddly for Japanese food, everything wasblandly saltless. Any positives? At least there were few people in the dining room so our chances of getting covid were low. Andthe fried Brussels sprouts from the grill menu were good. The shishitos also ok. But these 2 dishes are not enough to come backfor. Oh, and they add a 20% service tip automatically (good job, it's time every restaurant did this and the tipping culture isput to rest) but then printed a comment that they'd like to also receive gratuities. So we should pay 40% for service? Thatsaid, the service was fine, though a bit odd that someone used their bare hands to put our meatballs into the broth. Read more

I ordered a bowl of chicken ramen from Shibuya last night. I had high hopes for the restaurant after seeing some photos from... their Instagram page, but was ultimately disappointed. 1) Despite being packaged separately from the broth, the noodles wereovercooked to a point where I could not enjoy them. 2) While the first few sips were pleasing, the broth lacked the acidity itneeded to be properly balanced. It was so rich that it gave me a stomach ache later on. 4) Like most restaurants in DC thesedays, Shibuya slapped on additional fees. I understand that service charges are a direct response to inflation and losses duringthe COVID-19 pandemic, and I expect to pay them…for dine-in service. However, a 20% service charge for TAKEOUT is justunreasonable. 5) Shibuya’s website is out of date, and I wonder if it was left that way intentionally. I ordered over thephone and expected to pay $15 for a bowl of ramen. When I arrived to pay, I was informed the price had increased to $19. I wishthe best to the staff at Shibuya, but I will not be eating there again. Read more

Really nice restaurant and server was friendly and attentive but unfortunately the food is just ok. I ordered their ramen and... the flavor was underwhelming. Again, not terrible but pretty average, especially considering the price is similar to other ramenplaces with better ramen. Wasabi fries were good (just normal fries but with a wasabi mayo dip). They add a 20% gratuityregardless of party size which is strange so just be aware. Like another reviewer, this kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Read more
