I enjoyed my lovely birthday afternoon tea! As I have a dairy allergy, I?m so grateful that my restrictions were accommodated. I... searched high and low for vegan or dairy free afternoon tea options in the DMV and this is the only option that I could find. Itturned out to be very pleasant and a memorable birthday! Thanks to the staff! Read more

Came here for afternoon tea to close out a weekend trip with my friend and despite there no longer being online reservation... available, I was able to call and make a reservation about two weeks in advance. It's hosted in an "alley" inside theIntercontinental Hotel, which itself is beautifully ornate. The vibe is elegant and lively, with a harpist playing the wholetime. As for dress code, I just wore a nice blouse and slacks with white sneakers, but there were definitely people who went allout with their outfits, so dress as you please! I got the Lychee Berry Rose tea, which I enjoyed with a sugar cube. We both ranout of tea during our time, so we were able to flag down the woman who went around refilling teapots with hot water. The foodselection was delightful, with three tiers of savory bites, scones, and then small desserts. We also got a tray of two differentjams, lemon curd, and cream. As the menu is seasonal, our desserts featured flavors of apple, walnut, and pumpkin. It wasdefinitely more than enough food, as I could just barely finish everything. I would say though, that I wouldn't recommendrelying on this for a meal. We came around 3:30pm on a Sunday, so we weren't completely hungry. We've both done high tea inLondon, so this experience brought us back. While it's definitely not cheap, I would say it's worth the ambience and experience.Would definitely recommend for a celebration, or simply having a cute date with a girl friend or girlfriend. Phenomenal tea! The pastries were extraordinary, and the service is unparalleled elsewhere. It's famous for a reason, and it... never fails to impress. Unfortunately they extremely difficult to get ahold of. There have been a few different times when Icall several phone numbers and they do not answer or return voicemails in a timely fashion. Granted I'm usually not the onenamed on the reservation, but it shouldn't be this difficult to contact someone about this, even if I'm not the directcontact. It's a wonderful experience, but they need someone on the phones. Read more

Perfect backdrop for High Tea. However sandwiches were underwhelming (bread not as fresh as I would have expected), desserts... tasty, but the best were the scones ( Peach basil and vanilla). Tea was very good. Overall enjoyed it but may try other placesthe next time. Expected a bit more in general for the price tag. Service very good. Read more

My mom and I went here while visiting DC and it's one of the best tea experiences we've had! The sandwiches were all super... delicious and strayed away from the average chicken and egg salad which was a refreshing change. The scones were moist andperfectly flavored, and came with plenty of cream, lemon curd, and jams. The deserts were perfect little bites and incorporateda lot of seasonal ingredients. The tea list had an excellent variety, and we were both very happy with our selections. Theatmosphere was elegant, and the harpist was super talented and played a whole host of familiar tunes, which was so fun. We bothwalked away full, happy, and with a completely empty tea tray, which never happens. I cannot recommend this enough. Read more
