Our server, Diana was great. We loved the fish, fried rice and pork ribs. The sake, although cold was really full bodied. I... enjoyed our time. Only suggested we had was to change the lighting. It was 8 pm and the restaurant was bright like 2pm. Read more

My boyfriend, friends and I decided to grab dinner here prior to the best concert I have ever seen at the anthem and the food... was disappointing from all four of us personal opinions. You pay a good amount and we expect quality food. We did like kimchifried rice with grilled shorts ribs but all the other dishes were below average. We received the wrong dessert too. Yeah, thefood dishes were basic in flavor and experience. The salad came out with out a spoon to serve it properly. We decided to make itwork and use the other fork. Again, we should not have to have that experience of making it work at a restaurant where dishescost $30 or more dollars. The server was nice but yeah just mixed up order on the dessert. Honestly, I don’t think any of usare going back. Read more

I never understood the weirdness behind reservations at the Wharf until we ate here to celebrate welcoming a new baby into the... family. The price was around $30/person and surprisingly very much worth it ????!!! The green curry was phenomenal, even ourtoddler liked it! Expensive, but YES on every single dish flavor. The chciken was crispy, the veggies soooo yummy. I'd go again!Grandma also liked the spring rolls. Read more

Came to kaliwa for restaurant week and had such a great experience! Bless was our waitress and I appreciate how honest she was... with her recommendations. She always checked on us to make sure we liked what we ordered. Really amazing service by her! Thefood was delicious! I started with mango salad. Perfect balance of greens and the mango. I then got the pad Thai and it was someof the best I’ve ever had! The noodles were creamy and not dried out. The shrimp were huge - loved that! To end, I went withthe ube mouse and oh my goodness. I wish I had more of that! It was so rich yet so fluffy and airy. Overall, had a great timeand will probably come back again to try more stuff! Read more

First time in this place, we had dinner. Not bad. A little pricey though. We ate outside with a nice view of the wharf. The... service was good. Not sure if this restaurant is authentic philippino or is just the name. The flavors weren't close to theoriginals, but the presentation was good. If you order a drink, go for wine, not cocktails. I want to start by saying my wife is Filipina and I dine at Asian restaurants on a normal basis. That said, I personally know... the taste of good Asian food. I gave Kaliwa 3 stars out of 5 based on the following: 1. Service. The service was top notch. Though under staffed, they sat and served us right away. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. + star! 2. Atmosphere. It was around 3pm on a random Sunday. The music was at just the right level, crowd was nice, and it was just overall relaxing.+ star! 3. Wait Time. Again, perfect! We got our order within 10 to 15 minutes after ordering. I was amazed at how quickly thefood came out of the kitchen. + star Now the bad... 4. Food and drinks. To start, we ordered the pineapple margaritas - tastewas too sour. Ordered the lumpia spring rolls - ok, but not what I expected. I've eaten lots of lumpia and this was definitelynot Filipino style lumpia. The sauce was more of a sweet vinegar than the typical sweet fish sauce flavor. Also, the lumpiarolls were much thicker but were ok. We also ordered the panang curry with shrimp. I absolutely love panang curry and it is mygo to dish at any Thai restaurant. This was definitely NOT panang curry. To begin, the rice that came with this was not thetypical Jasmine rice that I'm used to... more of a cheaper white rice. The sauce was missing that sweet, creamy texture fromthe coconut milk and peanut butter. This was more of a salty taste curry which wasn't bad, but just not panang curry. I'veactually made this from scratch and it is phenomenal. I wanted to leave them with my recipe, but maybe another time!! Lastly,we ordered the sisig... the pork rhines were a bit stale and there was more of a fried curry rice dish than sisig. - star 5.Price. Way too expensive, even for DC. Everything is double what it should be. If the food tasted authentic, then maybe Icould justify over-paying. I did, however, leave a 20% tip. The service was awesome. - star Overall 3 Read more
