Amazing food at this place. Went there on a Saturday night with a reservation, we were a group of three. They have great dunks... here and kept our water filled with a bottle at the table. Staff was very attentive. We decided to do the fixed price menu andit was such a good idea, they were also accommodating to dietary restrictions. Compass Rose is defiantly eclectic—from its food that’s inspired by cuisine all around the world to its decor with flowing... fabrics in the back that evokes a house in Morocco. I want to love this place more, but I found that their Tour of the Worldset menu has many dishes that were a little too spicy for me. In addition, as someone who’s severely lactose intolerant, whilethey could set aside dairy for a certain dish, there were no substitutions offered for their cheesy Georgian bread (khachapuri)and creme brûlée dessert. Having been to other restaurants that offer a tasting menu, they’d either offer substitutions forany items that include dairy, or simply indicate on the menu that no substitutions will be allowed. Had Compass Rose done thelatter, I’d have gladly dined at another place instead of leaving hungry after spending $52/person. Read more
One of my favorite places to eat in DC with an ever changing menu filled with foods from all across the globe. Always some new... and interesting to try here. Not a place for picky eaters but if you love to try new foods you've possibly never even heard of,this is the restaurant for you! I had a great experience here. My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary. The around the world food package was great. It... was a new and fun experience. Coming here was one of the best meals I ever had but one of the worst experiences I ever had since I moved to the DMV area. Went... a Wednesday around 7PM to celebrate my birthday with my mom and grandma. Our server was amazingly friendly and attentive and sothe front desk people. I’m taking a star because of security reasons, that day we sat in the outdoor tables. When we wereabout to get the last part of our Vegetarian Tour of the World course (couldn’t taste the dessert hahah) a guy came to ourtable and stole my grandmas purse like it was nothing, I ran with high heels in order to catch him screaming for help butnothing really (besides another guy that was eating with his girlfriend next to our table). The server told us the check wasgoing to be for free, which we were thankful because it wasn’t really the server or the chefs fault for securityreasons. Everything was delicious! No complaints on their food. Their butternut squash was so creamy and flavorful! Their hotcocktail was out of the world!! Please add some security cameras around, at least for the people that dine outdoors duringnight! Or close the space so it’s harder for robbers to step in your cart area please m!! This place is such a vibe! My husband I were just passing by and saw the outdoor seating. We didn’t see the name of the spot... but when we went inside the decor, music, and aroma was just perfect! So we sat at the bar and ordered the Spicy Bag and a fewdrinks. Food was delicious and E the bartender kept the drinks flowing! We did the around the world breakfast for $30 a person. So good! Very generous portions. Not pictured was the delicious chicken... that comes as part of the breakfast and fantastic French press of coffee we enjoyed. Great service. Excited to go back and trymore! Read more
Compass rose is one of the best restaurants you can go to in dc because of the atmosphere, the flavor, and the friendly service.... We tried the "around the world" menu, and boy were we impressed! The taste of the dishes have deep yet light authentic flavors.We especially liked the lamb, as the meat is premium quality. It is one of the hardest to pull off. The caramel flan, a sweetdish, is to die for. We had to order another one. The squash and labneh were particularly exquisite. I can go on and on abouthow good their food is. If you are a foodie, this is a must visit spot! We will definitely come back again. Read more
