I was so excited to try this place but ultimately it was a bit of a let down. The food was good. A solid 7/10. Didn’t care... for the chimi-churri steak. It was not hot or cold, which was really weird. The Dan Dan noodles and chili wontons weredelicious. My real issue was the service. It was absolutely terrible. We received a text that our table was ready but still hadto wait another 15 mins before they actually sat us. The same lady that was the hostess was also bussing tables, trying to takeorders and trying to seat people. She was a bit overwhelmed and all over the place. We also had to wait over 10 mins after beingseated to be approached by a waiter. If the service was better, I would definitely come back. Read more

Visiting DC and staying in Dupont Circle. Every restaurant has a heavy menu. Astoria has the best menu. Alex served strong... and tasteful margaritas. Karina made a off the menu shot. I had the Impossible Mapo (tofu and Impossible Beef). Absolutelyfloored. And Michelle, a local, added to the entire experience. She is a gem to Astoria. Definitely coming back! Read more

I thought it was in the range of ok to bad. I believe in innovation. I appreciate the modernized asian restaurants if they do it... right and serve delicious food. I've written reviews for places that did that before and successful but this is one of theunsuccessful ones in my opinion. Dishes were seriously hit or miss. I had a couple of good ones while consuming odd flavoursfor a lot of dishes. Loved their braised pork but sat through some weird dishes. The place is pretty small, also dark andgloomy. It's more of a bar than a restaurant vibe. It was rather uncomfortable being inside, or perhaps uneasy. Especially sinceI was there for an event, and moving around the crowd was a state. Outdoor seating would be much better when it's not about100°F outside though. I personally won't be back. The bar was decent and the bartender did a great job. Other than that... Ithink I can go somewhere else for great Chinese food. Read more

Pretty decent. We ordered 4 dishes: Impossible mapo tofu: pretty good flavor, impossible beef can really pass as real meat. Not... “authentic” but still good and has its own spin to the dish Basil eggplant: flavor is a bit weird and don’t blend welltogether, still decent Salt and pepper eggplant: pretty good flavor, a little spicy, nicely fried. Salt can be a bit moreevenly distributed Double cooked pork: very sweet and greasy, a bit heavy, would not order again Read more

New Sichuan Cuisine. I love spicy and this place can definitely meet my taste buds. The spicy & sour wonton soup is my... favorite. This restaurant has Vegan options as well. Will recommend to spicy lovers. Read more

Astoria DC is definitely a great spot for authentic Chinese cuisine with a contemporary spin! The cocktail menu is a great... combination of fun, inventive and unique & the bar manager is also more than happy to “create” a cocktail to suit whateveryou have a feel for. The food was really delicious, and I would recommend ordering and eating family style to really get a fulltaste of all the amazing selections on the menu. One thing you may want to consider when ordering is if you want to have theSichuan peppercorns in the dishes - for me personally, this is an ingredient my pallet isn’t all too familiar with… So, inthe future I’d opt to not have this in my entrees. Overall, the amazingly friendly and well informed staff really add to thesimilarly amazing ambiance & funky decor! Read more

The food was amazing and I loved that they gave the place an oriental train theme. The employees were attentive and helpful as... well. Sharing the plates family style is definitely the way to go. The flavors are also very authentic to sichuan style foods.Definitely recommend this place if your down for drinks and a bite to eat. Read more
