Soul food . So my favorite thing to get will always be sweet potatoes first , the flavor is always 10/10 and consistent in... flavor . Then Mac and cheese . I’ve tried almost the entire menu , I loved the fried chicken . I don’t think dessert istheir strong suit. I got 2 plates yesterday and was NOT impressed! The meatloaf had a strange taste? First of all, it tasted like straight up... green pepper. Then it had an herb or seasoning in it that was way too strong! The green beans also had a strange taste and Icouldn’t eat them. The Mac n cheese was good! But at $15 a plate, I better have more the Mac that’s edible! My friend saidher chicken was okay but the two sides were disgusting? So glad this place is close to my house. I would drive from Alabama to get this food. Fruit tea is amazing. The cabbage and... green beans were sooo good. And the chicken was amazing. I'll keep coming back! Read more

I had heard great things about this resturant. They measured up well. I got meatloaf with three sides: collard greens, sweet... potatoes, and macaroni and cheese with cornbread and lemonade. The lemonade was really sweet so probably will never get thatagain. (personal preference). You get plenty of food.. enough to last for leftovers. All came up to about $22. I have been looking for a good soul food place. This place was amazing, I ordered the fried chicken with collard greens and mac... & cheese. Honestly I read the reviews they made me nervous but I just decided to try it anyway. I’m glad I did. I did not haveto add anything to the greens to my surprise they had a really good flavor (I had so many bland from other places). The friedchicken is simple but very good. The only reason it was not five was because of the quantity of main dish. I feel for what youpay, it should include another piece of chicken at least. Other than that it was perfect. I truly struggle with this rating, as I understand this is a mom and pop restaurant owned by a Community Pastor and his wife.... Unfortunately, my daughter and I were pretty disappointed in the taste of nearly everything—and it truly pains me to say that.We were visiting from California and asked the locals for a great soul food restaurant and they recommended Barr’s. So mydaughter and I proceeded to try a variety of dishes. We both were excited to try the catfish dinner. Unfortunately, the catfishwasn’t cooked long enough. Both of ours were incredibly wet. The flavor was good but I couldn’t get past the wetness tofully appreciate the flavor. My daughter had double fries and I ordered the greens and Mac & cheese. The greens were just ok.The Mac and cheese was flavorful and cheesy but nothing exceptional, if I’m being honest. I also ordered the chicken dinnerand the chicken just wasn’t good in my humble opinion. It was a bit dry and lacked flavor throughout. I also ordered the pintobeans, which were good, but after a few bites, they were a bit too salty. The sweet potatoes were tasty, but they were just alittle too wet. I also ordered a side of dressing, which is cooked with diced red peppers, which I don’t favor, so I wasn’tvery particular about the dish as a whole. If red peppers is your thing, then the dressing might work for you. The cornbread wasa bit dry and bland. Lastly, my daughter ordered the banana pudding for dessert while I ordered the peach cobbler. I have tosay that those two dishes were the most disappointing. The bread pudding was just ok and peach cobbler wasn’t it at all. Botthe crust and the peaches lacked flavor and just weren’t very palatable. The meal was delivered through UberEats and it wasdelivered pretty promptly. For everything we paid about $75. If we return to Nashville, we’ll give this place another try, but I think it will be in person dining to see if the experience is any better. ???? Read more
This is some of the best soul food I've had in over 20+s years. I first was introduced to soul food in GA when I was stationed... at FT. Benning. Some of the guys and SGTs in the unit would invite me and the other guys in the unit over to their homes forhome cooked food (I didn't say soul food because all of it was just that), and those meals were nothing like any other homecooked food and that's saying something because I come from a Mexican family. Thank you BMCSF for taking me back to those goodol days. And thank you SSG Ruffin for opening up your home to me for Thanksgiving in 1998 you and your wife went all out andI'll never forget your guys hospitality. I can vouch for for all of the food I ate at BMCSF, greens, meatloaf, fried chicken,peach cobbler, mac n cheese, yams, corn bread, sweet rolls, and yes I had two different types of bread, all the other disheslooked amazing I'm sure you can't go wrong with any of it. Since I stared down memory lane, shout out to SGT Barton, SPCCorrerá, CPL Lucas, SPC Chandler, SPC Nieves, CPL Rodriguez, CPL De La Cruz, SPC Holiquest, SPC Libby, SPC Zimlika, SPC Perezthe medic that dude was funny as hell and the best Canasta and Spades partner anyone could have, I know I'll remeber more inthe next couple of days.
