Felt like I was in Tuscany! Wow wow wow , food was delicious and service was impeccable. Salad had freshest produce and was a... large portion, and just perfectly dressed. The seafood Pasta was perfectly Al dente and loved the salmon roe touch it made itpop. Finished with the Oso bucco and one of the best swordfish I?ve had in a long time. We ate dinner at an indoor table. Food quality and taste was excellent. However, service was slow. We ordered bread for the... table and the staff waited until all our food was ready (over 30 minutes) before bringing the bread along with the food. (Thebread was ready much sooner - we could see it sitting under heat lamps for 15 minutes.) Also, prices were high and portion sizeswere small. Decor/atmosphere was unremarkable. Would not go back. Olive and Hay is one of the restaurants in Meritage resort. The restaurant is modern American serving pizza, steak and... poultry. The food is excellent but the service needs some improvement. Overall the response is slow, we tried both dinner andbreakfast, but we were left unattended for a good 5-10 mins. Read more
Started with pizza. The honey really set off the heat of the sauce and sausage. The bread was fresh, warm and incredible.... Spaghetti was with the same sausage as the appetizer, but really needed the honey to soften the heat. The pasta was fresh butwas over powered by the heat of the sauce. The Tagatelli was soft and held the sauce well. Meatballs were really tasty and thepasta would have shone with pasta together. Loved the vegetarian food options, wine and service. Everything was perfect. Mushrooms are great. Burrata and Brussel sprouts... were good too. We had the focaccia bread which was sooo good as well. We had the house Pinot which was sooo smooth with themeal. Lovely service as well. Read more
The food was tremendous and they had a lot of unique options. Everything felt fresh and well made, and the presentation was... always beautiful. Look at the menu costs beforehand to brace yourselves, but it?s the only game in town if you?re staying at thehotel, so you might as well commit to it. Everyone who served us was incredibly nice, and we had the materadee(?) come over andput napkins on all our laps, and later pour chocolate hearts for us during dinner. Not a fan. I love an Eggs Benedict and tend to judge a restaurant based on how well they deliver the dish, since the approach is... pretty straightforward anywhere you go, but Olive & Hay failed miserably. The Eggs Benedict: Both eggs were overcooked. Themeat (I *think* it was pork?) clearly sat underneath a warming lamp for about 15 minutes too long and was completely inedible.The English Muffin bread seemed stale. Additionally, the staff would not accommodate simple requests or just didn't understandthem. One of my guests requested sausage and bacon be added to her meal. After the staff agreed to the requests when taking ourtable's order, and after we agreed to pay an obscene amount of extra money for each side, we were disappointed when the food wasdelivered without the requested additions. When we asked about the missing items, the restaurant staff did not understand whatwe were asking, and we eventually just let it go. All of this after waiting for 40 minutes to be seated? And after paying HOWMUCH for all of this?! Save yourself time, money, and disappointment by eating off-site in nearby Napa. Read more
