Casa Lupe - Though I live in San Jose, and, more in the south eastern part, I hopped on a bus to downtown, and, took the... lightrail to Mt View. Probably an hours trip altogether, but well worth the motive of attending one of my two favorite Mexicanrestaurants - the 'Casa Lupe.' It's one of a chain, sprinkled elsewhere in the Peninsula. My introduction to this beautifullaid-out restaurant, was in Los Altos, going as far back as the '70s.' My only other favorite (Mexican restaurant), that takesa close second, is called, 'Station 55,' located just around the corner of 5th, and, Monterey Rd., in the old town ofGilroy. Getting off the lightrail in Mt View., I had to walk many blocks to get there (Casa Lupe), but, time passed quitequickly, as the entire street of Castro, is dedicated to pretty much nothing but restaurants, and, bars, and, a whole lot oflights galore, you'd almost think it was Christmas. The street abounded with tables, and chairs, and, people all seeming to be,in a partying mood. But, there were shops and botiques, as well - a couple that came to mind - is one with photographs peeringout through the window, of old San Francisco, San Mateo, and, Palo Alto, and, OMG, if it isn't Keeano Reeves, dressed up asprobably a 18th century officer in the English Royal Guard. Another store, featured actual sewing machines of different periods, such as 1881. Wow! And then, stepping up, to a 1920, 1925, and, 1957. The various models, put you in mind, of the annual carchanges that go on in the car industry. Well, at last, I arrive! Ah! How wonderful to be back. The outer wall was decorated intraditional Mexican attire. You at first, come into the pateo - very nicely laid out, and, no different in style inside. And yet. . . even though it was a little brisk outside, I chose to sit in the pateo's corner, that looked to the outside lights, andferns, firelamps, lanterns, and, motifs in the center, surrounded by greenery salamanders. And, maybe you could sp Read more

Edit: Visited today after the MV Art and Wine Festival! As always, it was amazing! I got the beef taquitos and they filled me... up! The horchata is sweetened perfectly and the salsa is really nice, with the best kick. Their fish burrito is gigantic. Andthe enchiladas looked delicious! We didn't get dessert there, but have ordered it in the past and their churros are very good!Overall, an amazing Mexican restaurant, with the best food and staff. 5/5 stars! Amazing food and attentive, kind staff! Read more

expensive restaurant, but that's not the problem. I didn’t like the fact that for such money you get a low quality of dishes,... there were a lot of veins in the beef meat that it was impossible to chew, the meat was dry, the lettuce salad was sour andtasted spoiled. Service was good. Read more
