Tasty well-seasoned food, sweet desserts, eclectic music playing. A fun spot, but I'm a bit adventurous ????

If you want an authentic Serbian cuisine this is the place to go. A very warm and family managed atmosphere with very friendly... staff. I highly recommend trying the Serbian burger. It is absolutely huge the size of a small pizza. I tried to come here everytime I'm in the area even though I live 3 hours away. I brought my entire office staff with me here during company meetings atevery one I've brought here absolutely loved their food. The restaurant is clean and the decor reminds me of europe. A must try Read more

Balkan Taste What a fun night my sister-in-law and I had sampling Serbian food. I have a digital pal who has traveled... extensively in the Balkan region. I always ask what kind of food she is encountering. She replied one of her favorite wasSerbian food. I googled Serbian food and found this four+stars restaurant, Balkan Taste in Mount Prospect. My pal reviewed themenu and made some suggestions. I printed off her suggestions and gave it to the waitress telling her that We were going tosplit everything. So she brought an extra plate. We started with Gibanica, a cheese pie with what appeared to be phyllo dough! Flaky and delicious Next came the sopska salad tomatoes onions cucumbers, and feta cheese. Very thinly sliced cucumbers with anexcellent feta cheese. Then Cevapcici, which are small ground beef sausage links on a bed of chopped onions with kaymak. Thiswas what I had been looking forward to tasting and they didn?t disappoint. We had only ordered a small portion as we were tryingso much food but I was wishing we had ordered more. I forgot to take photos before we split this portion. Just when I thoughtthe food couldn?t get any better the Gourmet Pljeskavica arrived which is a 12 ounce burger on a slice of bread stuffed withbacon, smoked Gouda and onions with kaymak. This was fabulous! Kaymak is similar to clotted cream. And for dessert we hadcherry baklava which was very tasty and more tart than sweet. The perfect ending to a super feast. We had so much fun tryingthe different foods, asking the very helpful, friendly waitress questions about the food, listening to Serbian music playing inthe background and meeting a Bosnian couple at the next table who were fun to talk with and compare our food choices. And thebest part is we each have enough leftovers to have dinner tomorrow night! The Balkan Taste is in the strip mall on the northwestcorner of Oakton and Elmhurst Road. Enter off of Oakton. 40 minutes and no food. I came to have a quick dinner, the place was busy so as soon as the waitress came I ordered so she... doesn't have to come back twice. Again I saw the 2 waiters are busy so I waited for 40 minutes before I went inside to ask if myorder was going to be ready soon and of course the waitress forgot to put my order in. I ordered the cevapi and a beer, that'sit, nothing complicated! I had to leave hungry, I couldn't wait any longer. Read more

My adult daughter and I stopped here for dessert after a slightly disappointing lunch at a different restaurant. I was a bit... sad we hadn't checked out this place for lunch itself! Lovely, contemporary feeling, very pleasant server. We each had agenerous slice of one of the cakes, which were both moist and packed with flavor. I had a tasty plum brandy, and I believe mydaughter had the white mocha coffee. Will return for the full experience next time we head for Chicagoland! Read more
