Nice pub with great atmosphere. I had a flight of 4 of the beers I loved their Saison and would have loved to have another one... but the waitress never brought it. Service was slow, maybe a new employee. Read more

Their beer is pretty good. Not a ton of depth, but good enough flavor. The Business As Usual IPA is the best, and the Ukrainian... stout was well done. Their flight service was not good. Quite awful actually. See photo. Six samples on a piece of paper thatwas soaked with beer, and couldn?t even pull the sheet towards us because it kept ripping due to the soaked paper. Really?? Atleast the bartender could have put it in front of us and not an arm?s reach away. Advice to the brewery owners - Get a cool woodcarved troll head like your logo and serve your flight in that. Do something in line with the troll theme, it?s a no-brainer.I?ve been to 200+ breweries, and this is dead last in terms of the way the flight was served, which is saying somethingconsidering the number of bad breweries out there. Embarrassing aspect of Grumpy Troll?s otherwise nice experience. Read more

My Horeb is a cute little village just outside of Madison. The toll capital of the world, which is worth a visit in and of... itself! This eatery, which is named in support of the local tradition is located in the heart of downtown. It?s a cool spot, butthe vibe was just off, at least when we went. Service was very attentive and nice enough, but I just felt like there was thisodd tension in the air, even on a very quiet and slow Friday night. And maybe that was it, not many patrons on a Friday eveningfor dinner, can make a place feel slightly off. Food was ok. Not bad by any means, but nothing that had me anxiously awaitingthe next bite or sad when it was gone. The beer was decent too, they have awards all over the walls, so they must be good. Ihave heard great things, so was excited to try. I guess the single best word to sum up our experience is ?underwhelmed.? Iwasn?t disappointed, but don?t think I?ll be in a rush to get back. I dropped by here with the ladies in my water aerobics class and it's the first time I've ever been to Mt Horeb! I ordered the... cordon bleu with broccoli and a raspberry tea, which was all very delicious and filling. We also got the grumpy chips as anappetizer; the seasoning and dip is wonderful! They were very busy when we got there around noon and almost every table had areserved sign on it, but they were able to seat us immediately and we even got a nice corner table next to the window. It wasvery loud so it was hard to hear each other at times, and it took about 45 minutes for us to get our food, but the wait wasdefinitely worth it! Read more

Belied up to the bar there after a long day of hiking blue mounds and Governor Dodge. The burger and fries I ordered were much... more delicious than the photo implies - fries were perfectly cooked and the burger had a nice smoky finish. Beer choicesprovided nice balanced options no matter the entree. It was pretty busy on a Saturday, but they had no trouble pumping out theorders. Everything was speedy and the service was friendly. Perfect fit for our entire group. We came in yesterday afternoon for lunch. We?re a mix of carnivores, vegans and a Mac and... cheese loving picky eater. This was a win. Literally something for everyone. Being able to swap out your meat For an impossibleburger really makes their menu accommodating without our vegan having to order a salad while we all enjoyed a meal ????. Much oftheir menu is locally sourced. Our food was all fantastic. Our waitress was amazing, great service, helpful and accommodating.Definitely get their rootbeer. Super tasty, light, not overly heavy or sweet. I got a glass and then everyone ended up with aglass. Purchasing growlers to go at the end along with their beer made on site was a little Challenging. But being understaffedand having new staff etc is a problem everywhere and not the fault of the restaurant so I take it all in stride, especiallythese days.. they?re definitely doing their best. Our waitress actually stepped into help. We can?t wait to go back. I can?tsee anyone not loving this place but particularly if you have vegetarians/vegans in your group. Read more
