Service was absolutely horrible. We were in a group of 8. One appetizer came out cold in the middle. Salad came out hot, and I... mean HOT. Couldn't eat the tomatoes because it was scalding. Which, with a hot salad you would think the rest of the food wouldbe the same temperature, nope, all lukewarm at best. It was incredibly bland, and one person's meal was completelyforgotten. They also had a band playing, it went from table to table. Where we were sitting, if the table behind us requested asong, we couldn't leave. We were basically trapped in our seats and couldn't get up to use the restroom. It'd be fine if it wasfor 5 minutes or so, but we would be stuck for 15-20 minutes. This eatery is unassuming looking from the street, but worth looking out for. The food was excellent from the fresh Cuban bread... to the main dish. Pictured is the lunch portion of the fried pork chunks with grilled onions, moros, and sweet plantains. Theportion was huge, well priced, and delicious. Read more
The service was good but the food was very disappointing. As someone from the Caribbean, I expected more flavor. The pork chunks... were very dry (you might be able to tell from the picture), the rice tasted reheated and old, and the rest of the food was justokay. This place is highly rated on here but in my opinion the food falls short. Overall wouldn’t come back. Read more
We ate lunch on the spacious patio! Had our two (big) dogs with us. We were given a yummy bread starter with two margaritas!... Empanadas and rice with tomato olives and chicken were as good as any Cuban restaurant I have ever been too! We will be back????I need to know what was in the green sauce ... it was delicious! I've eaten here a few times to get my Papas con Carne fix, tender shredded beef with boiled potatoes, yellow (or white) rice,... black beans and plantains. Overall the place is really good! There's a large patio with outdoor seating and and outdoor bar area(at night). They provide a buttered bread appetizer to hold you over while your food cooks, but I always get the plantain chipappetizer to share too - yum! The food is always delicious and served in large portions to leave you filled and ready to walkaround downtown Mt. Dora. Read more
We went back to one of our favorites Cuban restaurants. Is being over six years since last visited because we were disappointed.... Today we ordered the paella since it takes around 40" we ordered by phone to eat at the restaurant. When we got there we let ourserver know that we ordered already to eat there but for some reason they were confused, finally we got our paella. Presentationwas great, taste very good but preparation it was a little dry for a paella since we had it before in many restaurants includingthis and have family that know how to cook this culinary dish, we know. The reason that I only gave four stars it doesn't hasto do with the food but with the service. The server was new with we understood but went she told my wife that she had anattitude, (that is rude ) she never came back to offer me a refill for my drink and took any empty dishes of our table until wefinished all of that with an empty restaurant, there isn't an excuse for a new employee. This is the first time that we had thiskind of service here. We probably return but we will try the other Cuban restaurant in Mount Dora before coming back here. Forus is a 40" drive to be mistreated by a new employee I an afraid that went she be there longer than six months she might be moreaggressive so we probably order to eat in the car. Read more
My family and I came here a few weeks ago, and absolutely loved it. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, she helped us... with questions we had about the food, and was just the perfect server all around. The food was delicious and flavorful, seasonedand cooked beautifully. You get huge portions for the price. You also get bread with a couple of different sauces to start offwith, and I fell in love with the orange sauce. I asked if we could purchase it and the waitress said yes! It came in littleglass jars, for an excellent price. We were really impressed! The atmosphere is inviting, cool, and comfortable, and there is alot of art hanging on the walls. The restaurant itself was very clean, as soon as a customer would get done eating and leave, anemployee got right on getting the tables cleaned and ready for the next customer. I highly recommend this restaurant, and we'realready talking about going back there to try more things. Read more
Our server was really nice, ao thumbs up for a good customer service! The food is not that great, but we still enjoyed the food... after a long-walk to in exploring Mt. Dora Downtown & nearby places. The cuban coffee is amazing!!! We liked it. The ambianceis alao nice, though super very busy! I deducted one star also because of the bathroom ???? Read more
