Finally made it to Von Blaze for the first time today. It was amazing! The food was delicious, the service was amazing, the... atmosphere was trendy and enjoyable. We will definitely be back. Heard about this place several months ago and only this week did we get around to trying it. Had brunch on Sunday, and I went... back for lunch a few days later! I like that the restaurant is pretty small, I think that contributes to how quickly the foodcomes out of the kitchen. Nice atmosphere. The food is clearly high quality, and much of it made in-house. No exaggeration,their fries may be the best I've ever had. And the home-made bloody mary ketchup just kicks them up another notch. It's about12-16 bucks for a sandwich or main dish, but even fast food is like 10 bucks a person nowadays so it seems very reasonable forthe quality of the food. I had heard lots of people say how good Von Blaze was and they sure weren't wrong. My wife and I got to go today and everything... was so good. It was a packed house and we were able to get seats at the bar. I think it might have been the best seat in thehouse as we got to see everything coming out of the kitchen. I have to admit everything coming out of the kitchen looked amazingand I got some ideas for what to order next time. A word of caution to folks the portions for the fries are huge so make sureyou're hungry. My wife and I got a side of fries each for our sandwiches and they came out on big plates. We could have easilysplit one of the sides. There are also larger fry platters that come out on metal trays. For 2 people that tray would be a meal.If you have 3 or 4 people you can split a large fry order. As for the food it was great. As an appetizer we got the buffalodrummies and they were amazing. The buffalo sauce was tasty but not overly hot. The leftover sauce was great for dipping friesinto. I got the special which was a chicken apple and bacon vinaigrette sandwich. The chicken on that sandwich was huge and thebreading had great flavor. This was a delicious sandwich and I cannot wait to see the specials on our next visit. This was agreat lunch experience. It was a packed house but why kept clearing tables really quickly so there were no seating issues. Delicious food and personable service made it a wonderful experience! The pulled pork pops with hidden flavor from the collard... greens and perfect amount of spices. Chris is a... chef that I have admired for many years and I cannot say enough about the way he crafts flavors and food into masterpieces. A hidden gem in an alley off the main street through downtown. Food is stellar - our table had drummies (crisp and tender),... fries (perfect crunch and seasoning), and both a burger and the vegan tempeh sloppy joes and all were huge and unbelievablygood. Plus prices were very reasonable ($10-14 for entree). The menu is limited but everything looked amazing. Restaurant has awarehouse vibe with funky light fixtures and played a nice mix of 90s music with a funky hip hop lean. Would strongly recommend. Read more
