Abele's is a step above diner food. Chopped steak tasted great -- very fresh and with a simple beef flavor. I had it 'western'... style with sauteed onions & peppers and melted cheese but the flavor of the beef stood on it's own so next time I'll get itnaked. The mushroom gravy on the side was also tasty. Jan's chicken fried steak was one of the best I've had with a nice blackpepper flavor in it; admittedly that's not one of my favorites though. Service was excellent, prices were reasonable. Decorations were excessive but humorous. My one disappointment was the rest room. It looked like it had been clean for thestart of the day but by the time I was there (5:30 pm) it was not clean which was a bit off putting. Anyway, I'll go back nexttime I'm through Morganton. I had the breakfast buffet bar and it was delicious as usual. Plenty of food to choose from on the bar and it was hot and fresh.... The customer service was great and the restaurant was clean. I will be back. Read more
You need a stop on your way through Burke County, well here you go. Very well decorated with fun collectors items. Ultra... friendly service with a relaxed feel. Don't expect fancy but do expect a warm feeling entering this restaurant. Wings, burgerand chicken sandwich was very good. Buffet style Salad Bar for those who want all the fixings. For only $10 I got a delicious pork chop and ALL of the sides I could want. I got to choose from an entire list of delicious... meat selections, and then there were several bars of sides to choose from where it was all I could eat. Salad, soups, desserts,and so much more. It was our first time eating here, we were drawn in by the big sign on the interstate and the excellent rating. This was the... "BEST" breakfast bar that I have ever ate and the coolest decor throughout the restaurant I've seen yet. It felt like you werein a antique museum, which is right up our alley. Always like the food and the ambiance. Lots to select from. It's not the best food, in my opinion, but it is really good. ... It's hit or miss of course with waitresses. Stopped in for a late lunch and great a lil buffet! Love the all you can eat meat selection that guarantees it with be fresh,... with included buffet selection! Had the founder, that was cooked to perfection, and the baked mac n cheese on the buffet was onpoint and a must try! Read more
We're down here on vacation for 3 weeks. I must say this place is at the top of our list! Their food is AMAZING and their staff... is so sweet and generous. We will definitely rave all about this place all over social media! The waitress we had was asweetheart. I love the south, everyone is just so kind and pleasant.
