Grungy interior. Hibachi chicken was pre-cooked chicken chunks on a skewer? not grilled, no traditional green onion, tasteless.... They literally threaded cooked chicken bites on a skewer (I guess to pretend they were grilled) and served them room temp on aplate doused in what must have been bottled hoisin sauce. The tempura, sushi and gyoza were just as sad. You?ll do better buyingdumplings and sushi at Harris Teeter. If you like enormous portions of slippery rice or noodles slimed with a vague mix of soysauce and sugar, this is your place. Read more

This is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants that I have ever been to. The food is perfect, the employees are perfect, and I... can't think of one thing that is bad about them. If you have never been there before just go one time to see what you have beenmissing in your life trust me. Read more

Several items of our sashimi were not fresh, and I couldn't eat it, and neither could my mother. One piece was literally still... frozen. The hibachi was fine, heavy on the rice and not really filet but okay if you're used to that. They have sake options anda couple of Japanese beers. Read more

What a disappointment! We were a party of four, visiting for the first time yesterday evening. No ambiance whatsoever. Bright... overhead lights, dirty carpet tiles. After diners leave, the servers use mobile carts to collect the dirty dishes. Then thebroom and dustpan appear - right in the middle of people eating dinner? One of our party ordered chicken and steak hibachi. Thesteak was non-edible, very chewy. The meal was accompanied by a miso soup, iceberg lettuce with a ginger sauce, and what wassupposed to be fried rice. Not a sign of vegetable in the rice. Simply white rice mixed with what seemed like soy sauce andstirred in the pan a few times. The remaining three in our party shared sushi rolls. None were as listed on the menu. Prettymuch all tasted the same. The dishes appeared to be old and well-used. At one point, the waitress brought over a large plasticcontainer of sauce, sporting a flip dispenser. This is a container shared by diners, and we were wondering how many times it hadbeen touched. The only pleasant thing about the entire meal was our upbeat server. Read more

Stay away from their pad thai! It was soggy, funky tasting, mushy, and overall foul. Their sushi isn't fresh, is abnormally... small, and unauthentic. Chicken teriyaki was ok, appetizers are good. Read more

From the outside of the restaurant, we weren't sure whether we should go in. It has a very nondescript store front. Inside is a... different story. The interior is warm and inviting. I would place this a step up from the typical walk-up Japanese hibachistyle restaurants. I ordered the filet mignon cooked medium-rare. It was medium-well. Somewhat bland, lacked flavor. Way toomuch rice and could've used more veggies. The house soup was delicious. The ginger dressing was very tasty. However, it wasway too sweet. Our server, Nicole did an excellent job. Read more

This review is specifically for the morehead city location.. "Chefs grill in the dining room at this traditionally decorated... Japanese eatery with a sushi bar." This is the restaurant detail you get for this restaurant however this is false.... The NewBern location is the only one that cooks in front of you in the dinning room..... Now with that said, Staff was pleasant andnice. Food.....I have never had worse! First and foremost, would you like some salad with your dressing? You are best to getdressing on the side as I had a good 1/4 cup of dressing left over in the bowl ????... Hibachi steak, tasted fine but way overcooked....fried rice awful, no flavor at all.... You get a tiny amount of veggies compared to the mound of nasty rice. Wethought, being on the coast, we'd at least get some good sushi.... Wrong again, it was just as bland as the rice and so so tiny, one child who orders straight sashimi was fine with his but he's 7 and you can't get raw fish on a plate wrong.... Don't have afull bar so couldn't enjoy a drink....definitely not worth the money... I can only assume this place doesn't have muchcompetition to get such good reviews! Read more
