My 5 stars are for the 2 employees handling all of the customers on Sunday 5/1/22. (The establishment and their food was... average.) The girl that was taking orders and running food was impressive! The gentleman making the food just kept his head downand was trying to keep up with the ticket orders. But hats off to the girl because they were definitely short staffed and shewas doing the best that she could, running around the whole place while still smiling and giving good customer service toeveryone! She made ordering so simple for me which I appreciated. Because it was my first time there, I was too hungry to lookover options and so I went with what she recommended. *TL;DR: redheaded girl working is a beast! The cook was doing his best tokeep up. They worked so hard they deserve recognition for their efforts. They get 5 stars, the food and place gets 2.5 stars. Iwas heading towards Oxnard when I decided to pullover to get food. It was around 1 pm, I had been driving all morning withnothing to eat and it just got to the point where I had to pull over to get food in my system. After a quick food search on myphone CJ?s urban cafe was the first thing that popped up so I went for it. I didn?t want to overthink where to eat, again I wastoo hungry to take the time to do that! I was hoping for something quick but unfortunately that wasn?t the case but not thestaffs fault. -The food : basil chicken panini, it was ok. I was hoping for the food to be a healthier option. (I count mycalories and macros) It reminded me of field trip food that you get in grade school. Lol! After eating, the food made me bloatedand it felt like I cheated on my diet. -The place was awkwardly quiet, nobody really was speaking unless you were ordering, nomusic, the lights were turned off, and because they were short staffed the food took a while to come out, and you can see littlethings were getting neglected like the trash cans being full. Not sure what kind of Cafe doesn't have internet - but CJs fits right in. Food selection is good and of the healthier type - it... seems like a Panera's with a bit more selections for food and deserts without the great selection of teas - though their largesodas cost just as much (~$3.50) and without the internet. Great selection of foods: pizzas, patinas, salads, burritos, etc. All very fresh at a good price. Service is friendly and... pleasant eating area inside and even a fountain to complement the outside seating! Read more
Delicious Tuscan Tomato Soup and Panini Napa sandwich. Great staff, atmosphere and food. Will be back again!
Didn?t expect quality the sandwiches here to be as good as they were. I really enjoyed them on a warm spring day. The blended... beverages or from coffee Bean and tea leaf, which was a nice surprise but would have been cool to have something not mainstream. The staff was super friendly and patient and the food tasted amazing. Plenty of outdoor seating in limited indoorseating. Read more
