My family and I were vacationing through Colorado and stopped in Montrose for lunch. We walked past this place and decided to... give it a try since my dad is on a meat only diet. This place is a true American style restaurant. Lots of meats and sideoptions. I'm a fried okra fanatic so of course I had to give them a try and they were some of the best I've ever had! The meatswere all very juicy and tender. I also decided to try their peach beer and it was delicious. I worked with Shannon over the last few months, from Canada, to organize a welcome/ rehearsal dinner for my son?s wedding which... was happening at Top of the Pines, in Ridgway, Colorado. Shannon took care of every detail- she ran the event as if it was herspersonally. The food was excellent; everyone loved it and there was enough selection to accommodate any special needs. Service was good, but I was a little disappointed with the food portions for the price we paid. I got the 1/2 rack of baby back... ribs and left hungry, and I don't eat a lot at my dining sessions. Also the restaurant could use some updating with the insideof the building, especially with the boots. Some of them are ripped needing to be reupholstered. This was our first time at thisrestaurant, and we were moderately satisfied with our meal and that was my entire party that went there to eat as well. Cool place, great service, nice people. The food though is a total disappointment. Ordered full rack of ribs and fried pickles.... Take the smallest rack of ribs you?ve ever seen and then cut that in half. Flavor was mediocre at best. Over cooked and dry,then covered in bbq sauce. Mediocre at best... Hostess greeted us promptly, however our server Darcy was unfriendly, unwelcoming and unpleasant. My... husband and I both ordered the Friday special which was a 1/2 rack of ribs & shrimp. The 1/2 rack had good flavor, but wasextremely SMALL and the french fries tasted like they came from an elementary school cafeteria- soggy and freezer burned. Beforewe had even finished half of our our meal, Darcy through down the check. When I asked what desserts they offered, she wasnoticeably annoyed and quickly rambled the selections while rolling her eyes. Needless to say we left without dessert and Darcywas left with less than our normal 35% tip. My only recommendation for Rib City would be to relocate Darcy to the dish pit. Saveyour money. Easy to find, smells absolutely wonderful as soon as you walk in the door. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Prices were... good for this type of place (BBQ is always more expensive and this was on the reasonable side) Kids under 4 got a free chickenand fries which my little one loved. Hubs got the chicken and pork plate which he said was good. Chicken was super tender,pulled pork was nice and tangy. The coleslaw was BOMB DIGGITY. I got the brisket plate which was good. Brisket is always alittle bit more on the dry side but was flavorful and tender. Preteen kiddo got the Rib plate which he liked but wished therewere more ribs. We did not like the mac and cheese. It was a little bland, a little mushy, and every once in a while had crunchybits in it. We only tried their "sweet bbq sauce" which is like an original style sauce and we all enjoyed it.
