Reviews for Sol y Mar Restaurant in Montréal, QC
The food was okay nothing special, too much salt for my taste. The dishes are pricey, I don't recommend it. Service was bad,... the waiters talk more between themselves then see to the clients. Read more
We had grilled octopus and jalea as mains, shrimp causa and fish ceviche as appetizers with two cocktails. I was disappointed... with the jalea as its description listed a variety of seafood (octopus, shrimps, etc.) but as you can see in the photo, it was95% calamari with two tiny pieces of fish. For a table d'hôte priced at 49$ I thought it would be better executed. So overall, food and service were good but not exceptional. Read more
I had am okay experience in this restaurant but i took out a star because they serve the wrong dish to my father in law. The... refire chicken was raw. Service was okay in general. We were in the 2nd floor and our server seems to have tables in the 1stfloor too. The pan fried trout it was delicious and peruvian beer Cusquena Trigo was the best peruvian beer i've iad so far. Iwish i had a better experience on the service side because food was great. Read more
A nice peruvian place where you can get tasty authentic dishes. I really enjoyed the meal. The chicken was very tender and very... tasty. The sauces on the side worked well with the dish. The fish was fresh and tasty. I would give 5 stars however the servicewas slow and we were seated near the entrance which made the dinner quite clunky. Would definitely go back Read more
This restaurant was recommended to me by many of my Peruvian friends. In general it was a nice experience. I really enjoyed my... seafood ceviche. It was just citric enough and the seafood was fresh. However, I wasn't too much of a fan of their friedcalamari. They were a little overcooked and were a bit chewy. A friend still liked it and ordered the meal. The restaurant seemssmall by just looking at the ground floor. But I was surprised to see how big it was on the 2nd floor. There were a lot of largegroups for birthday parties. They played the happy birthday song for every single guest that was celebrating their birthday. Andit was one after the other. So it was went on for 4-5 consecutive times. It was annoying after a while. I don't remember thename of the dessert, but it was like a little harder version of a doughnut. It was a bit bland. If you've never tried Peruvianfood, this is a good option. The prices are fair and they are generous with their portions. The service was bit on the slowside, but understandable due to all the groups they had and the restaurant was packed. Read more

It was okay. I tried a bit of everything and ultimately it comes down to preference, but the fried seafood isn’t the best. The... fish that was in the soup was a bit overdone. Also, there are only digital menus available which meant I had to pass along mycell phone because I was with my grand parents who don’t have a smart phone. Once you do have access on the phone, the menusaren’t up to date and the waitress had to let us know what was available. I understand going paperless, but accommodating theelderly would be a good idea. The cocktails are small for the price. I didn’t like the bloody Cesar, but the piña colada wasvery good. Read more
