Reviews for Kim Tar Seafood Restaurant in Monterey Park, CA
Good food, lobster portion was decent. Staff was nice and accommodating. Only downside was no AC so inside got really hot with a... full house. Read more
The food doesn't really stand out here, service is alright. The shorter lady seems to hate life the most. I'll have to say you... don't wait long for food, cause everything comes out really fast. For the space they have it seems very under utilized and is indesperate need of a face-lift. The fried intestines could have been cleaned better, you can still taste the funk. We got 7noodle dishes, all different, but you couldn't tell what was what except from the proteins, but they technically were the samedish, 7 ways...maybe we should have gotten seafood that night? On the run today so I got its Togo. Loved their breakfast special! Reasonable price. I always get this combo with their hot... French coffee. If you don?t like your coffee too sweet, ask for less condense milk. ???????????????????????? Read more
I love this restaurant and strongly recommend it. It was just at the same plaza at my accountant's office which reports my tax... every year. Once I go to that office, I will have lunch at this restaurant. That is once a year. This is a Vietnamese Chineserestaurant, mostly Chinese. I like the noodle soup there, so many things inside. Fresh pork kidney, roasted duck pieces, shrimp, fish ball, thin pork slices, grounded pork, and golden deep-fried garlic. The broth is umami and obviously isn't from MSG. Thefree sweet seaweed and green bean soup is also a very good expierence, I had never image the sweet seaweed before. Most clerksare senior and they don't speak English nor Mandarin, you have to point the menu to order. But doesn't matter, you still getgood food and good service. Read more
My stir-fried rice noodle with beef was done in less than 10 minutes while I was waiting outside after order was placed. The... taste? Pretty good, I would not complain but would suggest to use a tad more of bean sprouts and a bit more beef at pricecharged. Overall, a good lunch to satisfy my stomach. Outdoor sitting is available, nowadays a norm for this type of business. Read more
If you want authentic Chinese food served the old school and honest way, Kim Tar is your place to go. The dishes are full of... flavor you can't find in other establishments especially in LA (well you will but trust you'll pay LA prices for a 1/4 of theportion). Sometimes it's good to step away from all the culinary hype and food PR to enjoy the foundation of where today's newfood movement started. The House Special Shrimp was the North Star of the meal. Crunchy, tangy, peppery, ... all of China'sflavors packed into every bite. The best part of the meal besides the amazing flavors was observing all the staff membersworking. Each of the servers and assuming the rest of the BOH staff are around my parents age 55+. Felt good to know that theyhave a job they enjoy. Read more
I've been eating here for 30 years and I just love it. I can't really think of many restaurants that serve similar dishes at a... great value like Kim Tar does. First, they're open late. 2 am weekdays and 3 am Friday and Saturday nights. That alone isawesome and has made them a de facto spot to eat after a long drive back from a trip or getting off a late night flight. Atleast that's when I seem to find myself eating here. Second, Kim Tar combination flat noodle soup...always amazing. Broth isdeeply flavorful, toppings (seafood and meat) are seriously generous. It's my favorite thing here. Third, ginger and scallionpork kidney stir fry. Again, a favorite. Masterfully delicious. Other great things too including an indulgent salt and pepperchicken wing. In short, I love this place and realize I have for a long time. Figures it was worth writing something nice forthem Read more
